These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. child porn I am a relatively new user of limewire and generally appreciate the possibilities of this network very much. There is just but one things that bothers me very much. I am not against porn in general - to each his/her own. But when it comes to child porn I can get very angry! Within this network there exists a lot of that and I cannot understand that there is not a single control mechanism to prevent pedophiles from putting their stuff in here. Free speech and uncontrolled webcontents - fine, but I think there should be a limit, no? This post is also very much addressed to the people that are responsible for the contents here. |

You can turn off the option to monitor incoming searches. But I have a better idea for dealing with the pedophiles, if anyone has some free time and video editing software. Start making video files including one of two things: - Documentaries about child abuse, interviews with rape survivors, etc. - Anything disgusting (but not the kind of thing people would get off on). Like surgery shows from the Discovery channel or shows about people who eat insects. Make really, really large video files, and give them titles like "Hot blond Lolita **** ****! Real kiddie porn! No kidding!" I'd like to see the same done to all those sick f*cks looking for rape videos, too. Since I can't actually track them down and shoot them. 1) if each box is taking up half your screen, look for the little check mark under "incoming search" and uncheck the box, you will no longer monitor incoming search feeds personally i rarely leave it on, i only turn it on once in a while if i cant think of anything to search for, than shut it off to read part of the list, since you can click on another persons search to activate your own, other than that all it does is spam you, so just shut it off 2) your other option is to remove the window from view completely in the center of the monitor page you will see a small thin line seperating the 2 boxes, on the left hand side you should see 2 small arrows, clicking the arrows will readjust which windows your viewing. the arrows will move to either the top of bottom when you click them and shut off one or the other box. with the arrows in the middle you are viewing both monitor screens. the arrows also work on the search page in the same way to adjust the viewable size of either the search or download boxes ---- beyond adjusting what you view there is little that can be done to directly stop child porn on this network. the simple reality is that 90% of the content on this system is not legal. including most music, movies, videos etc if they began monitoring and restricting access to what can and cannot be used on this network they would need to stop all illegal activity not just filter out what is and is not tasteful not that im trying to advocate child porn, but its no more legal than downloading copyrighted songs and other material |

hey just a tip i personally download a stack of porn at once, i filter out the kiddy porn as best as possible now that i've accidently downloaded a few, which have been deleted and the ip's i got them from reported to the fbi, however when downloading a mpg movie you can preview it so putting "sick stuff" wouldnt matter, plus i would be willing to wager most pedophiles delete non pedo stuff so the file wouldnt be spread much and honestly do you think someone who likes child sex would really care if they saw someone eating insects? i doubt it... best thing to do is to simply filter out the stuff, if you accidently get one delete it (im sure the FBI is watching by now) an even better idea would be not to download porn or to monitor it so you can see for sure its what you want and kill it if its kids. Best thing i can reccomend to ya is avoid it, the enabled box in the monitor tab should not be checked (that way you dont see the searches) or use the up and down arrows to move the upload screen higher... that should work too. Hopefully the FBI or whoever else is watching will get these ppl |

re:child porn I think it is easy to make a filter for it, just let the app filter files containing "child+porn" "kid+porn" etc etc etc... and it will be easy to BAN the people who offers this sick **** from the entire network. So i question myself why the good people off the limewire app & the gnutella network already did this... -L66 |

I think it's probably something like why Ebay won't edit or remove feedback comments: once you edit something at all, you then become responsible for all the rest of the content. So if LW filtered some of it and then missed a file, they'd be open to being sued. I wish there were an answer. I sure don't like seeing that stuff either. It's really terribly sad how many people there are out there who download all that kiddie stuff and rape stuff...makes me glad I don't have children. |

Hmmm, yeah I hear y'all loud and clear. I'm not against being liberal, nor am I against being all so moral about things. But like there are people who won't mind hardcore porn being shared, so are there people who won't mind beastiality, torture, rape, and yes, lolita materials. As long as there's demand for them, there'll be someone who'll suply. Sickening perhaps, nevertheless reality. The difference between ordinary (!) porn and underaged material is that the latter is illegal!! You WILL be arrested for possessing, let alone sharing such files. So if you want, we can get serious and "police" them out of LW community. But hey, the police just might come for all of us. So whatcha gonna du? I'm curious, though, are all those files really "lolita" materials using kid of age under 12? Nevermind, not my cuppa tea. |

I want LimeWire to have an option during setup to filter this crap out. Then you won't see anything like that come through anyplace, even if you don't have filters. After all, to use the filters, you have to type in that sick language, so your kids will see that in the filter box! Maybe put a checkbox to filter out this junk, but in order to uncheck it again, you would have to give a password. What do you think of that? I am going to make my own release of LimeWire, so let me know what you want. |
