Thanks for the advice, - but have checked and it's only ever been set to service releases - not Beta. Not a major problem, - just a little frustrating!. I'll put up with being told there's a newer version for the time being! Cheers for the reply |

updating to 4.9.30 I got the same message did the same thing as you, I however sent a trouble call, this morning I logged on to my limewire only to find my saved files that are shared...completely EMPTY!!! Now, I am wondering where these files went as i have alot of movies that were in that shared folder waiting to be transferred to disc...and also wondering what I am to do, redownload these file which I don't even rememeber some of the files that were in there or hope that someone will be able to help me recover these shared files???? Is there anyone out there who can help? I am a limewire pro customer as well and was given the same messages as you when updating...and then this happened... Thanks in advance if someone is able to tell me what to do....I did a system restore which didnt help at all.... |

Hmm the past couple of updates have been both beta & official releases. That doesn't happen too often. nabrepan ist sounds to me like you installed your program into a different account or did something with your LW settings. I'm sure if you use your computer's search engine you should be able to find your shared files. Offline installers have the advantage of being able to reinstall anytime. Just keep a backup somewhere (off the computer is wiser.) Sometimes if an update plays up, it's better to delete your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire This sometimes seems to refresh LW. However, before you do that, make a note of any important settings such as where your downld folder is, where your shared folders are, filter settings, etc. etc. Copy them into notepad or something. However if you use default settings then it isn't important to make a note. (And no! deleting your LW preferences won't make any difference to your incomplete files so long as you choose the same downld location.) |

I am not sure how I would have installed to a different account, I only have one account and I updated like I did every other time...is there anyway to go back to a previous version of limewire? So what your telling me these files are lost forever? and I need to start downloading these 60+ some files over? Thanks again... |

I reported the problem of notification and Pro versions to LW devs. It is now fixed (in-network notification pulled back for Pro version), shouldn't happen again. Ciao

Where was your LW downld folder? Was it situated within the LW program folder? Personally I use iTunes so I end up with 2 copies of all my music & simply use those within the LW downld folder for double-checking. I also keep my LW downld folder totally separate from my LW program folder. On a different partition/hard disk drive actually for both windows & mac. |
