Very confused, can anyone help? I have had LimeWire Pro for around a year now, and never had any problem with it. I was just sitting here listening to my music tonight and all of the sudden my whole music folder except for one song was gone. Can anyone help?? What did I do? |

Re: No, they're not there... I did a search for them, looked in the recycle bin, they're just plain gone. Ran AV scan, spyware, etc. and nothing abnormal turned up. Could someone somehow have taken them from me? Am I getting in trouble for downloading? I'm just really confused and have no idea where all my files went. |

Sure they were not accidentally deleted thru the LW Library window? If so, then it by-passes the recycle bin. You'd need a file recovery utility such as Norton to recover them. Or a free one here: PC Inspector File Recovery (click on link) OR if you have windows XP then see this System restore for deleted files If not deleted then perhaps your shared folder is misplaced. Search for the word shared or whatever the name of the folder is. Also search for .mp3 Do you have a younger brother or sister or family member who might have interfered with LW whilst you were not at the computer? Could be the culprit.

Re: I don't think so. I was just sitting here listening to music and playing a game and all of a sudden the music stopped. I go try to change the song (because I'd been having problems with the LW player sticking after 2-3 seconds of songs since I upgraded) and it said it couldn't play any of the songs. I went to open them with WMP and it said the files were no longer there, and sure enough, they weren't. If I was to get in trouble, wouldn't it just be something like being served papers not them hacking into my computer? |

Re: No, they were totally deleted, not just removed from the library. I'm not totally computer illiterate, I know more than most of my friends, but I'm just stumped here. My kids were in the other room and my husband was at work, so I know nobody else physically touched my computer. I've just never seen anything like this. |

No nothing like that! lol It sounds like your wmp has lost its links to the downld files. Of course you don't delete the mp3 files after you downld them do you? Open up wmp & click on Media library tab & click Add to at top of window & select search computer for media files. See example here: Using windows media player Oh late post from you. Yes ok all you need to do is relink them to WMP as I recommended. If you move them after creating a playlist with WMP then WMP won't be able to find them. So you'll need to re-add them as suggested. No big deal!

Ahhh where did they go?? I just did a system restore, I've done a thorough AV scan, and still nothin'. After it happened I was reading about the lawsuit LW is facing right now so I thought maybe I got in trouble or something. *Sigh* Ok, I guess I'm going to quit downloading music if I'm going to invest all that time in it and have them disappear on me. The files are literally nowhere to be found except for that one random song that remains. That wasn't even the song I was listening to when it happened. No, I don't erase the files after I download them lol that would be a bit pointless I've been doing the same thing as usual and somehow this all happened. I'm about to give up on it. |

I have 4.9.30 I just upgraded like a week ago because I experienced the upgrading glitch too (told me to upgrade then installed basic on me) but then I got .30 installed successfully. I didn't think a SR would have helped but I figured it was worth a shot. Thanks for your help everyone. No, I haven't tried DL anything since. All of my incomplete DL's are still there just not the complete ones. |
