Limewire has adware and spyware ..Hi there, Please note that a Australian PC Magazine , Australian PC USER has said in one of its articles that limewire has bundled spyware and adware :D Thats great isnt it hehe Cutey |
And that's BS. For a start LW has not had adware since the 1st version 4. Secondly, as reported by a spyware forum, most spyware programs on the market don't work properly due to them not being able to cope with p2p sharing programs. They identify the magnets as being spyware. Micro$oft's spyware program also had this bug until they brought out an update to fix it. The 2 programs recommended (by the spyware forum) are 1. Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE). & 2. ad-ware (FREE) BTW if you had searched the forums before posting as the forum rules specify, you'd have found this has been discussed many times before. There are scam versions of LW out there on the web, but the official version has no spyware or adware. Pity the magazine didn't do their research properly. That doesn't say much for the magazine's research abilities does it. :D Oh & yes I've read many of that mag before. |
...Dude my post wasnt meant to ask if limewire has spyware and adware..i very well know it doesnt i was just reporting that a magazine has reported that limewire has adware and spyware... u missed the point :D btw ur spybot and adaware suck..microsoft antispyware beta rulez ! |
Perhaps you should have used a different header!. :) I'm interested in what's going in Australia. I gather it's illegal to put your personal CDs on an mp3 player. Is that true? Or is that another thing that we up here have missunderstood? :) |
yep ! hehe :) ya i also read that ..and it seems to be true..if u rip ur own music cd onto ur own mp3 player thats illegal..but thats just the law.. but i am not expert at this..i am just telling u what i read on some website..i am sure if i go out on the street and ask a 100 people..nobody will know about it. everyone here has an ipod or some kind of mp3 player... lol :D |
Crazy but true. Since apple has no official site to download music in Australia, technically everyone with an I-Pod is breaking the law atm. Not sure how it is in regards to other MP3 players, there are legal sites but read an article the other day that said something like only 40% of the current top 40 was available legally. And that was on the top performing site, some of the others came in at under 10%. As far as I know, no P2Ps have been targetted yet, apart from Kazaa which has run its race anyway. I fear LW will be the next target, as I mentioned previously in another thread, use of LW has jumped 840% here in the last 12 months. |

We're paying £0.95 per litre (60 or 70% tax) I think ... how about you and its getting a bit nippy! we could do a swap???? :D Thanks to others for confirming about the mp3 players Crazy:):) |
Well I think you guys have been hit pretty hard, they pay $1.40 in N.S.W., but here in sunny Q.L.D its a tad cheaper at $1.20 approx it can vary, its wise to fill up on Tue and Wed, they hike the prices on the other days. As for a swap love to, summer can be pretty extreme at times, it would be nice to have a cold xmas instead of a scorching one, no hot lunch here mate, beer and seafood or a bbq. Oh back to LW Ive got no idea on the law about mp3s lol.:D |
Even with p2p it's only been the big players who have got in trouble. One being a group of uni students who were downlding from university & then selling as bootleg cd's. They deserved to get busted IMO. The other being the guy who bought Kazaa. AFAIK ... no other users have been chased here. I might b wrong. The culture of copying music onto audio tapes, etc. has been around for about 40 yrs. Prolly every 3rd person in the law enforcement has such recordings. |
