Limewire -Itunes organization issues Although the format I pick in Limewire for all songs by a certain artist (Beatles - I w*nt to hold your H*nd; Beatles - Im*gine) is exactly the same, they do not tranfer in alphabetical order. Some will stay together alphabetically, but there is another section at the bottom of the Itunes list, separate but in alphabetical order again. This section has no names in the "Artist" column. They look the same on Limewire but there must be some difference. How do I get a transfer with all "Artist" groupings together? What do I do in Limewire to insure an artist name transfers with each song, allowing automatic aphabetical transfer of ALL songs correctly. I have organized my IPOD by alphabet, so this problem is a problem. Thanks Sorry, edited to comply with forum rules. Last edited by Lord of the Rings; September 28th, 2005 at 09:29 PM. |

The labels and id3 tags on different mp3s are different and many are not labelled using iTunes or something similar. So you have to make adjustments ... no way round it I'm afraid. My Limewire tunes go into an iTunes folder called Limewire automatically and I make any neccessary changes there. If you do not have this luxury which may be a mac only thing, I suggest you list ALL your songs by "date added" in iTunes and all your recent downloads will be at the top ( or bottom) Then you can, for instance, take the Beatle songs and select them all and change them in bulk to the same artist name for instance. If you also change their id3 tag to 2.3, you won't make others have the trouble you had (usually). Nothing can be done in Limewire to alter them(not 100% true) but for the sake of this discussion true. I hope this helps ... Ask if you need to |

Songs in LW renamed to four-character alphabet I'm having problems with LW that when it downloads the song and adds it to my library, it's coming up with the name of the file as OCJW or PBJC, etc. It's using four-character random alphabet letters instead of attaching the song name. Of course when I download them, they don't lkook like that or when they're in the downloads file b4 tellling LW to clear completes. When it clears completed songs, it's adding some (not all) to my library with these random chracters and I can't tell the name of the song without listening to it play, each and every one! a royal pain |

I presume you're refering to LW's library & not iTunes' music library? Are you using iTunes? Which version of Java & LW are you using? after adding the songs to iTunes, what is the song name like, normal or as you described? Also in iTunes, select one of those songs & get information (command-i or control-i) & check to see if the name is listed & if it's the same. I have seen songs before that have the incorrect filename but the mp3 id3 tag shows up correctly. Also, are you refering to mp3's, m4a, mp4, wma, or ? |

alphabetical naming actually, it's stored that way in the "My Documents/My Music" file that way, and I'm pretty sure then that it's how my folder's naming them. I have changed the view and added the "Title" be added to the list, so this helps that I can now aqt least see the title, but I have to do this every time i open the folder. it doesn'[t stay that way when you exit and re-enter. but i i change it in My Music, then it shows up in I Tunes and Limewire that way, but why would it be using these characters to name the songs at all? I don't understand it. Any help; anyone? Ever seen this b4? thanks |

I get those random nonsense letters whenever I defrag my iPods (I have two such devices- a shuffle and a nano), but I mostly ignore them, because my iPod nano will tell me what I have on it. The only problem I have is that the songs I get from LW don't automatically go to my iPod, so I have to manually import the songs from the My Music folder on my computer. Other than that, I can listen to any song that I have on LW on my iPod. |

Hi, I'm new here and need some help. When I dowload songs from Limewire, they go to my iTunes but they seem to stay in their own little world and are not added to my playlist. I have tried everything but I can't figure out how to get them to transfer onto my library so I can listen to them. Any help would be great and if I am in the wrong forum, please guide me to where I need to be. Thanks a bunch! |

To add songs to your iPod library so you can hear them on your iPod, you have to personally import them from your My Music folder, one song at a time. That's how I do it on my shuffle and my nano whenever I add a song to the My Music folder that I want to put on iPod. |
