Only 8 hosts?
 

Hello all!

I have a question: when i am dling a file with lots of source (100++), seemingly the number of source which i can connect is 8 (connected to 8 hosts its said). Is it normal? (I have limewire Pro)

yes the max is possibly 10

HOPING TO LEARN MORE, AS ALWAYS. READING ABOUT THE NUMBERS CONNECTED TO ETC.. I AM USING L/W PRO ALSO . HOW DO I FIND OUT THESE DETAILS PLEASE? GOING FROM WHAT IVE READ IN VARIOUS SECTIONS OF FORUM , IT APPEARS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE FINDING LIFE DIFFICULT ON L/W. ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO OTHER P2P SITES WORTH DOWNLOADING THAT WORK AS GOOD OR BETTER ??? CHEERS....PS HOW ON EARTH DO I PUT A SMILEY THINGY ON ? IF I TRY SUNGLASSES ONE IT JUST READS " COOL "[ YES , I AM NEW TO THIS KINDA THING ]

Tony. The host number is something I have picked up reading posts in the forums. I think it must be somewhere on the Limewire site but I'm not sure where off hand!

I am playing with another p2p application , but I'm not going to recommend it to you yet, because it is a lot more complicated than Limewire and If I was not familiar with Limewire, I really wouldn't have a clue with the other one:)

I have heard good reports of Bearshare but it is not made for Mac (my problem ..not yours!) but can be found in somewhat corrupt forms so you would need to excecise care! All in all Limewire is a good place to start IMHO.

With respect to you and all others who find difficulty with limewire, I do suggest the following.
Go to the Limewire site. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/support.shtml. Read the FAQ and the
User Guide and the
Gnutella Glassary. Then go to the
forums and read the
forum rules and then , under them read the
stickies and follow the links in the stickies... these are not all the same in different forums.

There is a lot of reading but I think many newcomers are not aware of all thes resources. I have not read the user guide yet ... I have only this minute realized that has been updated, but the old one was pretty helpful.

Oh and one last thing. You have posted in the wrong forum. This is the bearshare one. The Limewire forums are listed here
