Default Limewire basic costs

Just a question I hope someone can answer. I am confused as to why basic is supposed to be free but I paid $27 for it and then I am expected to pay an additional $18 to upgrade to pro. I was going to ask the limewire crew this question but apparently they won't talk to you unless you are a pro subscriber. I think that for purchasing a lifetime subscription I should at least be allowed the courtesy to ask a question or two.

Uaaaah it could be because you got scammed. LimeWire Basic is free and pro is $18.88 for Pro and 6 months of free upgrades. The link below might help you it is about scam sites.

I dont understand why people dont simply go to: www.limewire.com to get the official software? These scam sites sure are making a bundle of money, even more than Limewire.

Hope you can get your money back. good luck.

Thumbs up

I think I got screwed too!!!

I was brand new to LW, was at, what I was sure, was the "Official Site" limewire.com......

Said "what the hell I'll pay the couple a bucks and get the good version" ....

Placed the order.....tripped through a few screens and whoo-hoo
I was downloading all those cool old songs I used to love.....

What's this?? A Perpetual splash screen that is encouraging me to upgrade??? Guess that must be the better better version....

Whats this??? every one else just does it for free???

Might have to look into that.....must be some support......

What do you mean that email address is not valid.....it is the one I used when I made the purchase.....I know, I was sent a "Transaction Confirmation for $69 Canadian" fast enough to that address....

Makes me want to spend the other $24 just to get some type of explanation.....

Ohh well, once bitten....

if you went to: www.limewire.com WHICH IS THE ONLY SITE TO GET PRO OR BASIC: Pro ONLY costs 18.88. ok? The basic version IS 100 percent FREE of charge. Why is this so hard to understand? If you feel like throwing your money away on a scam instead of the real deal, you can send some in my direction.

That's the pee off

I thought I was at the appropriate site.

I must have got way-laid by orks at some point???

It was my first time and it was only $70.00.....so far?

Next time I will do my homework a little better.

Thanks for advise Sphinx.....how much cash do I need to send you, and have it considered an official scam?

I'll send you a penny less and try to save some face.

PS Is getting the pro version worth it???

All kidding aside: I strongly suggest you stop payment on your CC cards if you've been scammed. Dont shrug it off or let it go by. Call your credit card company asap! Some scam sites have been known to use people's card numbers after they've paid for the fake pro!!! and, keep a watchful eye on your credit card statememnts. If strange charges showup, contact them right away and canel that number! Beware of scam sites.

www.limewire.com is really, the only official site of Limewire.

check your credit card statements, if you paid by cc. That will tell you where the LW charge came from.

Default Search Engines

Baddbob, Grayjay and Gsus1986

Let me let you into an open secret, whenever you do a Google for Limewire or any other P2P software you will always get scam sites coming top of the search list.

Why (I hear you ask), because the scam sites pay for that special privilege, call it "Advertising" or call it capitalising on a business opportunity.

So, for Google it is good business, for the scammers it is a very lucrative business and for you it's a rip-off.

So the moral of this tale is to only buy (or get) software from the official site and not the site at the top of a search engines query.

UK Bob
