Default What the difference between FrostWire and LimeWire

What the difference between them? i already look at FrostWire website, but one thing i see is this

Quote:
The FrostWire team (all of whom are still members of the LimeWire open-source community) regrets LimeWire's decision to start filtering content on Gnutella.
So the difference between them is filter??

I been using LimeWire for a while ( i say about full year). i never noticed about the filter, i see it still the same thing in Gnutella.

Can anyone tell me about the difference between them? All i know that FrostWire is a clone of Limewire

LimeWire has already the code to start filtering but it is not in the current versions. LimeWire will filter content thought, so we prepared an alternative already so people don't get lost and switch from Gnutella to another network.

LimeWire could die anytime, this won't be the case with FrostWire.

We are happy that you use LW for now, once LW starts filtering, you'll know what to do and tell your friends about it

Ciao

Can you explain what you mean by this comment? Why could LimeWire die at anytime?

Because LW is a company. If the employer gets to much pressure, it can fire the employees and shut down the LW.com server. LW could also be bought, or even transformed into a business selling DRM content like iTunes music store. Many possibilities because LW is in the USA, where the RIAA and MPAA idiots are mistaking freedom with their money.

One thing is sure, LW will be restricting what users download and share eventually. They don't want it, but they might have no choice.

Future is community GPL based P2Ps.

Yes LW is GPL, but the development is driven by a company. FW uses LW code and is available on sourceforge.net. We are not a company, only individuals wanting that Gnutella stays free of content restrictions. Beside removing DRM restrictions, we will follow LW's lead and philosophy as long as it exists.

I really recommend reading here: http://www.slyck.com/news.php?story=954
