AOL spy zapper & Missing files I ran AOL's spyzapper and elected to block limewire. It appears as though the entire limewire folder and all subfolders, including my shared files, has been removed. I unblocked it, but the damage seems to still be there. I have used windows explorer to search for mp3's and did not find any that were in that folder. I have downloaded ACTIVE Undelete and run it. It found the Limewire folder and some files in the shared folder, but they were actually old files I had deleted. While running the Undelete program I did notice that all of the file folders listed were yellow, except Limewire that was gray. Has anyone seen anything like this before. AOL offered no support, or actually they said, contact Limewire. Thanks for your help in advance |
I don't know the answer to your question, but I did ascertain from a thread sometime back that AOL's spyware program is not compatible with LW. If you want to use a spyware killer program, use one that is certified as safe to use with p2p sharing programs. Recommended is Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE) & you could also add ad-ware (FREE) You could ask Norbie at http://www.norbiesworld.co.uk/computerhelp This is a very good forum. |
I dont entirely (i mean i dont EVER) trust AOL programs. IF you trying to uninstall AOL, good luck, it so damn hard to remove AOL from your computer. AOL replaced a couple of system file to make it work with AOL. But AOL replaced one of the most important file for internet is WinSock. WinSock is most important file that will connect to internet. but what i mean in WinSock is that AOL recoded WinSock |
