![]() hi people, i was wondering, is there a way to block ppl with download speeds like 1kb/s on downloads of a few megs or bigger, i rather share my fast speed with ppl that use it so they don't have to wait too long, i can't help it that ppl with modems are still around, but you shouldn't in my opinion hog the line for ppl that do have a fast connection and want to enjoy it. is there any way to say block all ppl that don't have atleast 10kb/s download? and now i'm no the matter of sharing, is there a way to effectively block everybody that doesn't share? i mean i think you should atleast share a certain amount of files say 10, before being able to download anything. anybody have any suggestions? |

![]() there is reason why people goes for slow download. it because of their ISP. when they try to maximum their download, it possiblity it could bottleneck their ISP and cause the ISP to take action against the consumer, it possible that those leecher is using a modem. |

![]() LW is a gnutella application. Gnutella is the sort of web source that intends to offer open access. Many people can't afford to buy an ISP connection to the internet which is more expensive than a dial-up modem. Don't they have the same right to use LW as you do? As to your suggestion about requiring a certain number of uploads that a user should do before being allowed to download, you should look in "options" in your LW "Tools." You can set your program to prohibit "freeloaders" and can set the number of file uploads that you require for a user not to be a freeloader. This allows you to make a personal choice rather than a global policy that might not work for other people. |

![]() i know about this option but in my opinion it doesn't work very well, since you can put bogus files in your share folder and be done with it but you can't check that ![]() but you are right not everybody can afford this, but i also think ppl that want to download a file of 700 megs at 1kb/s should not hog the file for ppl that actually can download it within a day not 3 weeks. but that's something we can discuss in to the end, i was just askin if it's possible and if so (maybe someone that changed the source code since its open source) so these options are there. |
