Default Java/Limewire Pro Problem

i am running xp 64 bit. i do not profess to know much about computers although i can often muddle my way through. I'm having a problem reloading limewire pro. i keep getting an error message that says i need java 6.0 or higher. i've repeatedly downloaded the newest java and uninstalled both java and limewire several times without any success. I've noticed that when i'm installing java it says i already have this version on my computer but i have no idea where it is located

Check in Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs... there you'll see which Java versions are installed. Remove whatever's there before installing the latest version.

If you're still stuck, remove whatever Java you have via Add/Remove Programs & then run the MS cleanup utility & ccleaner which are mentioned in this post: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html

After that, try installing Java again.

Which version of Pro are you trying to install?

I'm also having issues with the new vers. of limewire, it installs ok, i've removed & re-installed my java software , but keep getting an error message : FATAL ERROR! java.lang.outofmemoryerror: Java heap space at com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.util.XMLStringB utter.app end(Unkown Source). I've also tired to re-install many times, turned off my firewall & disabled my virus scanner, & it still won't start,I have even tired the link from above, & did what it said to do about uninstalling & installing java & limewire,& i still get the error message.

Birdy:

Thanks for the response. I'm trying to install Limewire 5.0.11. I've never had any problems like this in the past and have been a limewire user for years. I've download CC and went through the process once again of uninstalling and reinstalling without success..
