Angry Connection Problems....and it USED TO Work Just Fine.

I need some major help. A couple of days ago my Limewire started acting funky:

-it keeps disconnecting itself
- when it does connect it only reaches "Good" than drops back down to "Starting connection" or "Disconnected"
-I can't search (even if I have a connection). Seriously how hard can the word "Britney Spears" be to have AT LEAST 100 hits. I didn't get ANY or just three at the most.
- When I AM downloading something, it doesn't even seem to be downloading even when I'm supposedly connected. I can only get 0 to 1 kilobytes. I tried downloading something with HUNDREDS of sources but I only got like 0 to 1 kilobytes per second and sometimes only up to three hosts.

Please HELP! I'll give you a chocolate-chip cookie!

sounds weird, but more info needed (see forum rules for examples of info that can help).

Something changed with your connection (obviously), but whether it is the setup or ISP depends on the particular info you'll need to provide or track down.

University T1--that's the likely reason.

Many schools have been blocking/filtering file-sharing. Ask around the university and see if connections to the gnutella network are allowed.

Yeah. But I've been using the University T1 connection since last year AND for the last three months with no problems. Everyone else who uses Limewire experiences no problems.

Thank you very much for the help you've been giving...this site is nearly a ghost town.

Ghost? I hope so--just means that most are finding the answers they need.

I wish you would have said other LW users at the univ were OK.

See if you can find someone to let you connect your machine to one of their access points. Better yet, get them to bring theirs to your access point and see if they can connect.

That will allow you to narrow down the problem to either the access point (ethernet, I presume) or your machine's settings.

Assuming the connection test shows the problem is with your machine, compare the settings they are using, especially in the LimeWire Options-> Advanced->Firewall section
