copy/move files

Can I copy the downloaded mp3 files in the shared folder to my music folder without screwing anything up? Or can I just move them? I have some new different files to move in also- can I just copy them to the shared folder? I want to move them so I can share them over my network at home and the limewire shared file isn't one that is shared on the network.
