Default New Subscriber and Billing

Would be nice if someone from Lime Wire could respond as they don't have a direct email for basic users (which apparently I am not now). Just hooked up to this service and noticed in the process of subsribing I accidentally got stung for extra charges for pro upgrade net spy protector. I actually didn't want these and don't see how I am now able to download the pro upgrade. How do I change my billing back to basic or if that is not possible, how do I get access to the services I've ended up paying for but don't seem to have!!!!

Wallace. Limewire Basic is free, and offers no e-mail support. Limewire does not sell net spy protector, but does sell a pro version for US$18.88.

In short you have been scammed and the first thing you should do is try to cancel your payment or tell your cc company you have been victim of fraud and then you should cancel the card as the scammers have the details and will no doubt charge you for a few more things.

This is the Limewire site http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml
This link explains about some of the scams.

Default Another Newbie is scammed (The story goes on)

Dear Wallace6

You have made a number of mistakes in your assumptions;

1) You assume that you got your LW Basic from the Limewire company, well you didn't, you went to a scam site and got conned.

How do I know this? You are not the first to complain of this and, if you read through this forum, you will find many, many novice users like yourself who have done exactly the same thing.

Some novices don't even know or remember which scam site they went to.

2) I suspect you were looking for a site that you could download music, films or games for a cheap price, so you went searching via Google.

Google is paid by the scammers to list first (or second) their scam sites whenever someone makes "search queries" the same as or similar to the one you made.

3) You believed the site when it offered you unlimited downloads if your joined their "lifetime" club.

No company or organisation can offer unlimited downloads, the copyright owners would want to control how and when their stuff was released, and the "lifetime club" does not exist. And by the way, the extra software that has been foisted on you are all bogus.

And you should have guest by now that Limewire did not get your money, instead you gave your money to internet parasites.

Now, you should contact your credit card company and inform them that you have been conned out of your money by a site set up to fleece novices out of their money. As most CC companies have an anti-fraud scheme you should be able to get your money back.

Next time when you go internet shopping you should do some research first and make sure you are dealing with a reputable company. Scam sites have never been reputable and can be easily sussed out.

UK Bob

Default Scammers

Many thanks to you both for your quick responses. I haven't been scammed up until now but I guess there has to be a first time. I'll cancel the transaction and my card.

Default billing

We were billed by Limewire for about $60.00 for Limewire and I didn't order it. I never gave our credit card number. And, i don't know what the money paid for...I don't have limewire pro..and I sure the heck don't remember filling out any form other than a basic site registration. If I can find that particular credit card bill again, it does have a limewire phone number. However, I called that number and the person who answered said I would have to communicate on-line only (e-mail). So I've no idea how to get any answers.

If you did not fill in any credit card information when you registered on the scam site, then you need to CANCEL YOUR CREDIT CARD immediately. Someone might have stolen your information! I was lucky enough to get my money refunded from the bank when I got scammed. I did not even fool with the telephone number on the bank statement. The scammers don't want to give any money back. If you have not tried the credit card company, call them and see if they will help. I hope it all works out for you.

As I recall, The credit card entry for Limewire is not actually Limewire, but Limewire XXX (I forget the letters, and I do not recall a Phone number. I shall check, but there are scammers who manage to make you think yo have paid Limewire, when in fact, as in your case, you have not!

As Whitneyrox said the first thing you must do is cancell your card. Your details have somehow got into the wrong hands! Also check your computer for viruses, spyware, and empty the browser cache and delete all cookies frequently.
