Need help with monitering. When I try to moniter, a box pops up saying; Your client is a leaf node shielded by an Ultrapeer. Hence you will see few or no searches in the moniter window. Can someone please tell me what this means? I'm thinking it has something to do with my anti-virus/firewall. I use Bit Defender 8 Professional Plus. If it has to do with that, than how do I fix it? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thnx! |

I'm guessing you are using Limewire, or Bearshare is identical to Limewire in this respect. The main part of the monitor window shows your uploads and the bit at the top shows the searches being made on the network. These appear as a never ending string of words which you can pause if you wish, but it is never possible to take in all the results. It is not important that you see it, and in certain peer/leaf set ups that your Limewire may be running in (this is set automatically by the network depending on conditions at the time) ... you will not be able to see search results atall. There is no problem and you have nothing to fix. The searches come into your computer whether you can see them or not. see http://www.limewire.com/english/cont..._monitor.shtml and http://www.limewire.com/english/cont...html#ultrapeer I hope this helps |

Thnx. I guess I was just being nosy, wanted to see what other people were downloading. Yes, I am using the latest version of Limewire. Forgot to mention that *blushes* I just found it strange since I used to be able to see all that on my old computer and now I can't. Oh well, c'est le vie. Thnx for your help. |

Recent versions of Limewire have radically changed in the way they connect to the network and many hosts who used to connect as ultrapeers, like me, now tend to connect as leaves. I suspect this is happening with you as well, and apart from preventing your nosieness it will make no difference to the performance of Limwewire. |
