Two AV apps WW You should not try to run two AVs at the same time, the problem you are getting is exactly what you want to avoid. So instead of one AV running well and giving you 100%. However, at the moment you have two apps running badly and you cannot be sure if you are getting any AV cover. If you want to keep Avast AV you should then uninstall Norton AV and delete all Norton folders/directories and remaining files. There may be one of the other members running two AVs but I am sure the majority will support me when I say you should only run one. UK Bob |

wondering why ukbobboy01 is correct when saying you should only run 1 at a time. I have done some testing with Avast and Norton running at the same time I have 1 old better computer I use for testing anti virus and other software. I will say that while intentionally downloading known viruses from the P2P net that the combination never let 1 get through. But in the same breath running them individually none got through either. So I can neither prove or disprove the efficiency of running them together but most people say not to do it but I do not know why. I do know that running both will use more memory and CPU resources and there does mot appear to be any advantage to running them together so if for no other reason than that it would be make a choice and only run 1 at a time. I myself run Avast on 1 computer, Norton on 1,and McAfee on 1, I like them all but Norton is my favorite because I feel it is the most user friendly and easiest to use. Hope the information is helpful. |

Thanx guys, I will remove norton as it is now out of date, I did like it to, but the kids drained the old pocket lol. Will I have to reinstall avast to get it up and running properly? or will it automatically activate its scanner..... Once again thanx for your time.... |

Hey Sphinx, I'll wait and see how it runs, now that I have removed norton as I think norton was doing all the work still,The message didn't come up about the scanners so I hope they have reactivated I'll keep you posted on avast and if I dont like it Ill check out antivir pe.... |

Reinstall avast in case it did not install properly due to Norton being installed at the time. It only takes 5 minutes of your time to reinstall it, and it's better to be safe than sorry. "A stitch in time saves nine". |
