cd-r =you can only burn it the once so fill it up 80mins approx
cd-rw = you can burn on it over and over
Same goes for dvd-r and dvd-rw

Just watch what brands you use as well because some players wont play them.....
I stick with imation brand its good......

I think you would put it on dvd

You also have to know what type of discs your DVD burner will read. Ours will read both DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW. Does your burner only read - or + or both? If it only reads the + then the - discs won't work in your burner. Also, when burning videos or movies you need the DVD discs. CD's are for storing information or for songs.

CDs are used for (s)vcd format files (mpeg1 and mpg2)

DVDs are for dvd format files (this usually requires conversion)

What are the differences between mpeg1, mpg2, etc? I know that an avi can be compressed but that's about it.
