Running out of memory...

Hi i searched and found quite a few people who are having the same problem I am.

- Very slow dls 0-1 kbs

- after a while dl-ing ( 15 min or more ) my whole computer slows down and locks up until i END limewire. Sometimes I would get an error message, sometimes just a freeze up.

I have concluded from the forum and errors it gave me that the java heap memory is to blame. I have never done any java programing and i dont understand the sorta-fixes posted. Am I the only one still suffering from this or did everyone give up? :)

I have done all the regular fixes and my IP says they dont limit p2ps. Bearshare is working for me but I would perfer limewire.

I would like to start from scrach and see if I can troubleshoot this problem! Any help would be great!!

If it is the same type of problem I experienced, i.e. Internal Problem caused by Java crashing, then just cut down on the amount of files you share.

I used to share over 1,500 then the problem started, I cut down the files I share to 150 and that particular problem has gone away.

I have another problem, with LW Pro (4.9.37) disconnecting itself while the internet connection is still on, but I am going to hunt around the forum before crying for help.

LW Disconnects

ukbobboy01, on installing 4.9.37 all previous disconnect problems were no more ....up to about a week ago, presenting the same symptoms you are experiencing. Normally it's not a big hassle unless it's left running overnight... If you find any info on this, let me know. Got to go to bed now ,hope it's not a  in the morning.regards

well that system appears to be quite capable of running LW and doing a few other things to boot..if you by some chance don't have the latest Java release, then install it:

First try the .Limewire fix in the link below.

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420

If that doesn't work try the instructions below.

You will need to install Java and LimeWire manually First go to the first link. You can find Links to java in there Download Java to your hard drive by putting a mark in the save to disc box. Save it to my documents or wherever you save downloads from the internet. Do the same with LimeWire the second link will take you there.

Now with that done click on start then control panel add/remove programs and see if Java is listed on the list if it is uninstall it. Do the same with LimeWire if the un installers were not loaded you may have to manually delete the files. But in most cases this is not necessary.

Now click on the Java installer you saved to your hard drive and follow the instructions after you have completed that do the same with LimeWire.

Please post back and let us know if it worked. If it did not I will give further instructions on manually deleting Java and LimeWire.

A few more basic questions:

What speed are you cable or modem? How many firewalls are you running? Did you allow and config your SP2 settings to allow Limewire through is anyone able to upload from you? What type of files are you trying to download? Very large files will take long time to download.

edited added: does your ISP allow for P2P use? Could your ISP be blocking and or capping your bandwidth?

Well i installed both manually like you said, and it hasn't crashed so far so that is good....

i have 6mbs cable I checked and they say they have no p2p limits. No firewalls on

Im dl-ing a file with around 80 # ( high speed ) and i get connected to 7-9 but ill still get only like 2kbs!

I tried with other files and got similar results

Im not sharing any files yet... any idea why its so crazy slow?
