You could try an experiment. Change your version of Java. The reason for this is sometimes one version of Java doesn't run well on some systems.

Uninstall Java 1.5 using the Add/Remove Programs control panel. Then install Java 1.4.2 using the "Offline" installer version here http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html (Choose the JRE)

BTW using the Resume/Find Sources function on too many files can slow down the computer. So if you or your other computer is doing this, instead do it on just 1-3 at a time "if" you use this function.

Also make sure the drivers for you connection devices are up to date! In fact, make sure all your drivers for everything from graphic card to cpu, etc. are up to date.

Also do a speed test whilst LW is closed. Choose one from here: http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/speedtest/

You can also seek help here to see if there's another issue affecting your computer NorbiesWorld (click on link)

GREAT! Another problem.

I uninstalled Java 5.0 Update 6 and Installed the one you said, but during the installation, my computer just randomly re-starts. And I try to start Limewire after it re-roots and it says I have a Java error, so I guess it doesn't fully install cuz my computer keeps re-starting when I try to install that version of Java! Gr.

Well that's obviously not working then. Uninstall that version & reinstall Java 1.5 (take the JRE)

Another possible reason I hadn't thought of before for your slowdown is, go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>iTunes>Sharing & disable this function.

Perhaps you can use this as a reference: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=49500

But thats my problem. I can't even get to the start menu unless I wait like 20 minutes for the mainframe of LW to load. And it doesn't even fully load anyway. It like, goes so slow I can't use my PC. So..I've tried everything without trying to open LW cuz thats what causes my computer to pause and go so slow, that I just have to control alt delete and cancel LW.

Go to Program folder of LW & find uninstaller.

Ok, now what?

nodoubtfreak December 8th, 2005 09:52 PM

Ok, now what?

Uninstall? Then?

(Thanks for helping by the way.)

Oh I've confused your thread with another who was using theirs at work.

To uninstall LW, the program should not be open. So if it's not open your computer is not slow right? So you can access your Start menu without problem to get to the uninstaller. Yes uninstall. Perhaps using another version of LW might do the trick. I'll send you a pm in a bit.

BTW if your computer restarts then that suggests another problem with LW being the catalyst to start it, but not the underlying reason. If you're getting a Java error on restart, then I wonder what it could be affecting ... perhaps the graphics card.
