rogers cable filtering I am new to limewire and am having problems downloading and uploading.Iam pretty sure I have no firewall issues and it seems that when I download it starts fine but fades away(low KB/s1 to 5)what I have been hearing is that my cable supplier(rogers in ont canada) is filtering my bandwidth .Is there any merit to this and if so ho can I fix this.I am running xp, norton ,spysweeper and have windows firewall that I disabled |

I called rogers and they told me that due to the popularity of peer to peer downloading that a filter has been put in place. The reason is that they(rogers) can't handle the strain it puts on the system. So I PAY for high speed internet service that can't give me what I want. WHAT A CROCK.It seems that it's a matter of time till all internet providers restrict what I do on the internet. Or maybe I am over reacting. How can this be stopped |

You could possibly use some type of proxy but still, there's no guarantee it would work. A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 - 3 which have links to alternative instructions. I remember some time back reading that some Canadian isp's were considering the bandwidth shaping or blocking of p2p sharing. Rogers rings a bell. If it's not already there, I'll add Rogers to this list: ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire Ah it's mentioned in the very last post on page 3. I'll add it to page 1.

Ottawa law professor Dr. Geist has been drawing mainstream and international attention to Roger's practises: The Unintended Consequences of Rogers' Packet Shaping http://www.michaelgeist.ca/content/view/1859/125/ Hope he and we can get the Government involved, or enough users switch ISP's so that packet-shaping is dropped. |

We have many Rogers users that use our VPN to solve the traffic shaping problem. Even our free service, allows 256kbit/sec which is more than Rogers is letting through. A bit of warning about the free servers, they are very busy so it may take a little time to get connected. SIX, http://www.secureix.com |

six: Where are the owners of the servers located, and is the only way you guys pay for the service through the premium accounts? The TOS is pretty direct, but I couldn't find a Privacy Policy. I see you mod their forums, so appreciate your answer. |

US based servers only right now, but our path to rogers is very good. As far as privcy goes we collect minimal information and payment for the premium service is through paypal. The only thing we store is your VPN username and password so there is little risk there. SIX |
