Question trouble opening limewire

I have a question. I downloaded limewire basic. My other computer froze and I bought a new computer and I have downloaded this limewire. But every time I try to open the program it opens real fast and then just closes itself. It won't allow me to do anything w/ the program. It just disappears. Please HELP!!!!!!!!!

We really can't help on what you have said! Please see the forum rules at the top of the forum and use the guidelines there to give us some details of your equipment, and something more than "It just dissappears" When we know what's happening and what you have there we can try to help you work out the problem

Default trouble

I don't know where the rules are. This is my 1st time in the forum. I have windows xp w/ upgrade to me or something like that. I have the program downloaded. It just won't completly open. It will open for a VERY short time, but will close very fast by itself. I haven't been able to search or anything because it begins to open then just closes "just disappears from my screen". It will not stay on my screen. No warnings or error messages. Just goes.

I just said " forum rules at the top of the forum" OK here's the link http://www.gnutellaforums.com/announ...?s=&forumid=29

I'm aware that this is your first time here which is why I have tried to help you write a useful post wherewith we can help

We really need to know some things such as your Java version, your computer, your opperating system, which seems from your description " upgrade to me or something like that" to be possibly home made. I'm guessing no idea really but I'm tired, so if you get some details out someone might be able to help

I have the latest version of Java. It is custom made, but it is all new and up to date. 224 mb ram. Windows ME. Sorry. I don't know what else you need to know. I just bought the tower because my other tower fried. Just tell me what you need to know. And where I can go to find out and I will. But it still comes down the the fact that I have downloaded the program and uninstalled it like 5 times and it does the same thing every time. A box comes up saying it's making the connection to LW then it just closes itself then sometimes I get to the part that shows the big window where you can start the search then it completely closes w/o any warning or message box. Please just give me an idea.

I suggest you go to the above post and follow Grandpa's suggestions very carefully. No guarantees, but try it and let us know how you get on.

Just a note for information. Uninstalling limewire never helps a great deal usually. More can be achieved by deleting the limewire preference folder, as it is damage to this that often causes problems. Grandpa's first link is also useful for this purpose.
