*r. and Mr. S*th.avi

I downloaded this movie last night. It wouldn't run in my Windows Media Player, saying it didn't recognize the codec.

Now, when I try to delete the file, it says it can't because it is being used by another program.

I think this might be a malicious file.

Any suggestions how I can delete this file, and find out what the other program is that prevents me from deleting this file.

Thanks

Hi Larry,

First your not supposed to name the files. Thats piracy talk and is against the Forum Rules.

You may have d/led a virus. One way to avoid this is to look-up the file with "bitzi" first. How to use Bitzi Web Lookup

Try deleting it from your shared folder with LW shut down. The default location is C:\Documents and Settings\"your account name"\Shared. If that doesn't work try deleting it in safe mode, and run your anti-virus. Also check out this thread: WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of!

Default Bad File

Pac,

Thanks for the tips. I was somehow able to delete the file. First I deleted its listing in the LW library. Then it was gone from the Share folder.

I'll check out the threads you mentioned.

Larry

Glad you sorted it out. I won't try to d/l a movie file without looking it up with bitzi first. It's no guarantee but it helps give you an idea if the file is good or not. There are a lot of bad files being shared. Good luck.
