Default How long will it take to download 700MG with dial-up...??

I am new to all this and am wondering about how long should it take to download 700MB with dial-up? I am trying to do this at the moment and have a speed of 3-4KB/s and it say I am downloading from 2 hosts. Have been at it for 1 hr and just hit 2%. Should I give up??
Also, when I try to preview it opens media player and gives message that it has encountered an unknown error. Does this mean the file won't play either once it has downloaded......if it ever does?

Please help!!!!

Have you tried Bitzi lookup (rightclick on filename in search result and choose bitzi lookup) If it's a popular file you will get some info there (quality etc. good or bad)

Also depending on what kind of mediaplayer you use. you might not be able to preview with it

If there are very few users that have the file, I would suggest picking another download, because it will take a long time and you can't be sure that you get the whole file

It's a win/lose situation downloading big file on dial-up + dial-up cost per minute/hour right. would it be less expensive to go out and just buy it, or can't it be bought?

try to do some calculating as to how long it will take, how much it will cost you and what it's worth

Well if you got 2% in 2 hrs you only have 98 hrs to go. Make sure you have the setting of how long to keep incomplete files set to 365 days because if it is set to 4 days you will just about finish it and it will delete it. Then you will be pissed.

Thank you for responding. As soon as broadband is available to me I am definitely changing. At the moment I have unlimited download so cost should be prohibitive. I am still very green with this whole process and don't really understand a lot of the wording etc. I have been looking for a way to improve the speed but just get more confused the more I research.
Is the messages I/O in the connections tab the number of file being uploaded and downloaded?
Any tips you can give me that will help would be most appreciated. I have followed the recommendations regarding searches and upload slots and filters etc.

Wish me luck and hopefully as I build my library (and get broadband) I will be able to share more effectively with you all.
