Modifying Options in Basic ver

I've just installed LimeWire Basic. To set some security configuration I wantd to change some default options. But I cannot do it. For example in Tools>Options :

-Connections : "Connect on Startup" option,
-Advanced>System Startup : "Run on System Startup" option and
-Chat : "Enable Chat" option

values DO NOT change. They seem to be disabled. Is this inconvenience because of the BASIC version I'm currently using?

Are you making sure to click 'apply', then 'ok' after each change you make??;)

Also for some changes to take effect you have to restart limewire.

If neither of the above suggestions work, try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 in Fixes for Limewire (sample at bottom of page.)

If this suggestion doesn't work, then tell us which version of Java you have. (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.

Also tell us where you are trying to use LW? Work, home, school? Are you sure you have permissions to write to that part of the system directory re: preferences ?

Thank you guys for answers. My problem survives.

The reason why I cannot change these option values is because I cannot see "checkbox"es near these options. Regarding to "Lord of the Rings"'s answer this may seem to be a Java version / installation problem.

My LimeWire Ver : 4.9.37 and Java Ver : 1.5.0_04

I couldn't download "J2SE(TM) Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6" from the <a href="http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp">page</a> since going thru this address, at the last downloading page server name could not be found.

I'm using an AMD64 based computer and I'll use LW at home. For last I am the administrator of my own comp.

Thanks in advance.

I just tried & it worked fine for downlding Java. You need to choose JRE version, then select the "Offline" installer version. Oh & you need to agree to their terms agreement before you can downld.

From what I can remember from the past, it may be possible to drag the options window down. Drag it from the bottom or bottom corner. Drag option box down [- click on this link] (to find apply button) Did you try deleting the LW prefs folder whilst LW is closed?

Thanks again Lord of The Rings. I managed to download the "Update 6" for the JRE 5.0. Now all interfaces in the Options menu seem to work properly. So I could have modified some default values. That was all about it..
