Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. It must be the QLD heat! lol I wonder if it's a Java display issue. Go to menu bar, View>Hide>Connections. Then go back & choose Show Connections. Is the window still blank? Oh hang on, your connection bars are red. Are they still red? Was there anything you did with LW before it happened (before the bars turned red)? I've never heard of that before! AFAIK But UP's are required for getting connected to the net. I'm not sure how important their role is after that other than filtering traffic. |

Hello LOTR, thanks for the reply, I had about 4 programs running, itunes and a few others and when I went to go back into lw the firewall/internet warning popped up, thats it, but now I've shut it down and reopened it and its back to normal.... I was dl a mp3 still up in the high 20s while it was doing it , which is slower than what I was getting earlier.... |

WW & LOTR I don't know if this helps but I have found that LW does not like sharing my computer over long periods with other running programs. The internet connection changes from TurboCharged Blue to Disconnected Red, even though the shared files continue to be uploaded (it's my downloads that have discontinued). However, I must admit, I usually find this out after I've got home from work so I have no idea when this change occurred. So now, whenever I do a long download/upload session, I try to make sure that the only other thing that runs when LW Pro is active is PeerGuardian. UK Bob |

I use multiple applications all the time, but if it's going to affect things, it's generally my router. My computer loses communication channels with the router. Ouch when that happens to put it lightly. As it may also mean a reboot of the computer on occasions. Luckily it hasn't happened for some time. But yes, I agree UKBob, this may contribute toward this scenario. I guess dependent upon computer config, abilities, etc. I do all types of video rendering, editing, audio equivalent, or having image manipulative or vector programs running. As well as browser, perhaps windows running on Virtual PC simultaneously, burning, & maybe OS 9 running at the same time as OS X & windows, etc. |

The only time I have noticed this happen is when a large (e.x. 500mb) file is finished downloading and then LW is verifying it. Usually during the process of verifying large files I can't use any other programs or it looks like my 3Ghz P4 is running on a 386! So I just wait it out and it eventually finishes after my DRAM has been scrubbed clean and most other programs on my computer are recovering from the havok I notice that my connection (blue bars) have all gone red. I check the connection's tab and there are no connections to the network plus if I had 9 hosts while downloading a file, I would end up with 2 or 3 and this would be the case with most of the files I was downloading at the time of verifying. If I'm writing in Word I try and make sure I save my work before LW verifies files because sometimes other program (that aren't internet oriented) will freeze. Also my MSN Messenger will disconnect during this process too at times. I really don't understand the verifying feature as with other P2P programs just let you know you're done and that's that! I assume it's checking for some corruption in the file that could have happened while downloading but I'd rather have the option to not have it verify files over 150mb as it seems at this stage that it effects connection and program stability issues. Or perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I typically only have about 150mb of available ram at the time. I monitor my available ram in my system tray and notice that this verifying procedure eats it all up. The same as with when you're building your library with large files. I just bite my tongue and hope everything survives the process, lol! |
