Conserve his bandwidth? That just sounds like a lame excuse. VirtualTuneage never mentioned in the thread that they are using dial-up. All they wanted to know was how they can stop others from downloading their songs, how to use Chat, mentioned skins and asked about avatars. No where in that post did I see the words dial-up.

Thumbs down virtual TEENage

i don't understand why people download a program that shares if they don't want to share. just go away people!!! there wouldn't be anything here at all if we all had that atittude.

i had dial-up not 2wks ago. i was only able to DL 1 song at a time, but UL were 2 at a time. i didn't stop sharing just because i had a little bit of bandwidth. that's B.S.

maybe we could all gift-wrap our music for poor tuneage!!
(he/she) probably doesn't have anything worth listening to anyway. (otherwise they would share).

i chat all the time. the problem is everyone expects the other end to be open. sometimes i like to go downstairs to grab a bite. that means i'm not right here waiting for you to want to chat. also if i'm chatting with someone else, (on the phone) i'm not going to drop that conversation just to let you know i'm here.

Angry Chill out!

Wow, I come back to see if there are more answers to my questions, and find I am getting slammed, for the most part! How nice!

How am I supposed to know that stopping people from uploading is concidered a "freeloader", whatever that is!? Or that not mentioning why I wanted to block those for a bit would be frowned on?

I am totally new to using Limewire, I have never used a psp file sharing proggie before. I want to learn how to chat with those who have not turned off that feature. I want to have an avatar showing when I come here.

Odd it is to see how some, who might have been here for a while, like to verbally slamming new people! Especially when that person has no knowledge of the program they are using, and they want to learn!

You don't want anyone to download any of your songs. So, are you saying that you want to be a freeloader? Heh!
What is a "freeloader", and why would you ASSume I am one, when you don't even know me?

Virtual Tuneage doesn't seem to want to follow this thread. You've told him how to freeload, so I guess he's a happy bunny.
Only a Hobo... First off I am a she, a mother with children. Ever think with Christmas coming up I have been a bit too busy to check on this thread, until now? There is more to life than this plastic box plugged into the wall.

Me d, I don't plan on going anywhere for a long time! I plan on trying to learn how to use this program, and its chat part, someday. With over 500 files, I am sure I have music worth listening to. Would have had more, but my other comp crashed and I lost everything I had collected over the years.

I find it pretty pathetic that I come here looking for a helping hand, only to get slammed because of the questions I asked. Want drama, turn on the tv, I don't need it!

The only one that tried to help was HeadCraft, thank you, Sir!

And for those of you that had a heart attack cause I wanted to know how to block the sharing feature, it lags my comp so bad, I have no choice. I own a dinosaur for a system, nothing new, quick and fancy. So I need to know how to shut it off when I am working. Nothing bothers me more than having this system so bogged down, I can't use it!

Default properly chastised! however...

first off how many threads have you read, other than your own? do you know how this forum works?

any program i've ever downloaded, have some kind of preferences. obviously you found the skins. if you found skins why didn't you look for anything else??

Tools - Options - etc, you will find alot of what you will need to set up. further if you read some of these "threads" you will most definitely find what you need. you can even fine-tune your search at the bottom of the page.

don't ever start your thread with "i have had L W for a bit" that implies that you have been on L W for a while.

"how do i stop people from downloading the songs i have?"
what else is that supposed to mean, but that you don't want to share!!!

as for the "mediators" here, I'M SURE they get a little tired of answering the same questions over and over. especially when someone "who's been here awhile wants to stop people from up-loading!"

freeloader: a person who habitually imposes upon others for free ....whatever.

Freeloaders are a sore subject here as you may have noticed. if you look in your tools, there is a freeloader option there but it doesn't currently work. obv you fixed that problem.

we can't always just ask for and get the "quick fix". the reason for the forum is to help people, not just one person. but you still gotta work for it.

If LimeWire slows down your computer then maybe you shouldn't use it until you are able to upgrade your computer. If I had to chose between my computer running at a decent speed and using LimeWire I would chose the first option.

Oh ......and if all the freeloaders use your method. No wonder everyone is getting search results and no downloads

Exactly what I was thinking. I also find it frustrating when I'm blocked from browsing a host. It makes me think they have no interest in sharing because they don't want you to see what they have.

Sometimes a host cannot be browsed because they are stuck behind a firewall.

As for your remark .."Whose keeping score" That seems like the kind of attitude that sadly makes the word the place it is to day .. I Take and You give. ....Thank God we don't all have that attitude.

Hey Hobo -My remark .."Whose keeping score" was a rhetorical question (do you know what rhetorical means?) so I didn't intend to get an answer BUT I did raise the issue because if LW is indeed P2P then there is no way ANYTHING could be tracking sharing/freeloading; if LW has tracking abilities of sharing/freeloading then some network traffic would have to go thru LW servers -which don't exist, RIGHT?- THAT'S HOW NAPSTER GOT SUED...RIGHT?

If the LW developers hadn't intended a FREELOADER option they wouldn't have allowed people to regulate slots, RIGHT?

All you SLAMMERS in this thread (AKA FLAMEBAITERS/Trolls) just post your IP addys so I can block ya from my ULTRAPEER & files, OK!

Just to dispell any thoughts that I'm a newbie, my first computer AGES ago was a Comode-Door Amiga 1000 w/ 1 meg ram running about 1.3 mHz on a 1200 BAUD modem, came with about 2,000 pirated apps on fd THAT WERE INCLUDED IN THE DEAL...THE SELLER WAS A PALM BEACH (Fla) COUNTY DEPUTY SHERIFF who was upgrading to an Amiga 2000, circa 1986, he kept me updated to newly-released bootleg progs for quite somtime afterwards. I remember spending $300-$400/month on telephone charges back then DIALING into BBS's all over the friggin' USA, hacking into BBS's as well as **** sites, etc.

So DON'T EVEN THINK YUR DEALING W/A NUBE HERE, JACKOS!
