RE: Wireless I know if I had a problem with connecting I would of posted on the connection forum. I have do have a problem connecting, but it is not because if Limewire. My IP had just upgraded and instead of have just a modem it was also a wireless router. Well I have installed and got it running Quote:
router will talk which is pretty cool concidering it has to travel downstairs and wall, but for some reason it will not let limewire connect. Well it is kinda a connect problem but more of an open than connect because I was able to do it when I did not have wireless. I know it might be the Firewall and that I might be taken a chance removing the firewall, so is their away around this and still have the firewall. If anybody could help I would appreciate it. |

1. *** Can you tell us the brand & model number of this wireless router? 2. How many computers are connected to it? 3. Are any of the other computers using LW? 4. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? |

Is there a UPnP switch on the outside of the device? If yes, turn it on. If not, log into the device using your browser & see if there's any UPnP options (Universal Plug & Play). If not, then I suspect you'll need to manually port forward the device. See intructions here: 1. Set up a Static ip. (see instructions in point #2 below) But make sure you get this step right, b/c this is where mistakes are generally made if any are made. 2. Forward a port for 6346 as described here: http://www.portforward.com/english/r...G/Limewire.htm Make sure you save changes & see whether you need to reboot the device. Some brands or models do need this but I'm not sure about actiontec. If you have a modem manual, give it a check over. 3. Within LW: Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that. Both manual port forward port & listening port should be the same in this case. Also make sure your firewall is configured: Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) If it still doesn't connect after 30 mins, then try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 in Fixes for Limewire (sample at bottom of page.) & then repeat step #3 above. |
