Default flash drives

i couldn't remember the other name for them. yes very handy, i also have 1/2 GB for smaller projects. even half GB has lots of room for music.

p.s. 1/2GB is a "Lexar". 1GB is a "Verbatim", both excellent, & both have lights to let you know they are working.

Re: External Hard Disk Drives: If you should consider one, get one with a large cache. I found out recently from Lacie support the reason my 250 GB drive is so much more quiet, so much faster & so much more reliable is they're built with much more cache than the 160 GB drives. Here's some descriptions of external drives, etc. http://www.computerhope.com/btips/hdd.htm But ignore the advert for Maxtor. I would very definitely not recommend Maxtor. Too many reports of them giving up well before time.

Default hard drives

thanks for the link.

i have a seagate 160GB. can't find RPM info tho. i don't think transfer rate is fast, cause it took 20 mins to transfer my rock music in, about 4,000 songs. i have 87.7GB to spare.

my boyfriend bought it and installed it about 4 mos ago. he threw the box away, along with the stand. he never uses the comp. i had actually disconnected the thing, cause it wasn't being used. when comp slowed down i installed it again. since i loaded it, i hadn't turned it on till yesterday to cycle in/out some music. it's nothing more than a trunk for my (junk).

size matters, not necessarily speed. after defrag i have 85% to spare in comp. the only thing in here is music and pictures.
