No video with *.avi I downloaded an avi file (movie). Windows Media Player 10 is my default player for avi files. When I play the movie, I get the sound - but not the video. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there another player that would work better? Thanks......... |

You probably need to download some codecs. XP Codec Pack is supposed to be a good one for Windows Media Player. VLC media player is a good backup media player that has the codecs built in and will play most file types. Go to this thread for more info: CODECs list and alternate players for Movies.

VLC is an excellent player, and it won't cost you anything. There are slight reservations about WMP 10 so perhaps you should have VLC for the times that you might find WMP doesn't work. It's your call |
