Megalomania is flying high
Default Un-subscription

I have been using LimeWire Pro for a while now,
And I would like to ask how I could cancel my subscription.

I would rather use the free version.

This is primarily because we have been charged $100 in September, instead of the $18 US that the site says.

Could you:

1. Tell me why I was charged so much.
2. Tell me how to cancel payments.

Thanks for your help,

Megalomania

Megalomania ,

You have been scammed.
Contact your bank/credit card company, they should have a fraud dept that can help you out.
If you can contact the site that you bought Limewire from and demand your money back. You should also consider canceling you credit card cause now they have your billing info who knows what else they will do with it.

The only place you should get LW from is the official site: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml. all others should be considered scams. LW basic is free. Pro costs US$18.88.and is good for 6 months free updates and 6 months pro support. They send you an e-mail that connects you to your personal Pro download page. After the 6 months you decide if you want to get another 6 months at a reduced rate.

There is no subscription rate, it's a one time charge good for 6 months.

For more info on scams read this thread: Membership? - **WARNING ** BEWARE** - Download p2p Clients ONLY Thru Official Sites

Ouch! that's a lot of money to get scammed by. I think you'll find you didn't get pro, but they took your money & then redirected you to the Limewire downld page for LW Basic. You can check for yourself. Shows About LW Pro (click on link) Also the new version (4.10.0) actually lists LW Pro on the main window. See if you can identify where you paid your money: Known Scam Sites (click on link)

Nuts, I didn't realise I was being scammed, lol.

They billed me through my ISP... so they don't have my credit card number, I don't think.

Could I call up my ISP and get them to cancel the transaction?

Oh, and thanks for all your help guys

They billed you thru your ISP? That's the 1st time I've ever heard of that happening. Well, yes get in touch with your ISP & tell them it was a fraud/scam & that you are going to report that site to the authorities & ask your ISP to cancel the transaction. Did you locate the original site you paid the money to? If you see the last link I left, at the top of the page is a link where you can report that site. Do it so others won't get caught by them. From what I can remember, your scam episode is the most expensive I've heard of.
