Uninstall LW & Java. Then only do both steps #1 & 2 here Fixes for Limewire & then reinstall LW using the "Offline" installer version.

The new LW 4.10.x now stores its preferences in a new location. So as well as the above technique, you should do the following: delete C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\LimeWire
Note instead of searching .limewire, you'll need to search for limewire with search options set to show hidden files b/c the Application Data folder is a hidden folder. FrostWire uses the same technique so you can follow this example: How to delete your FrostWire Preferences folder except search limewire & not frostwire.

Can you give us an error number. I believe I've seen that error before affecting someone else. I researched it earlier in the year & there is an answer for it (I think!) At least there's documentation for that problem. I won't know where to find it though without an error number.

This error:

:"This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package:"

Were you downloading the file with a download manager, like DAP, or were you using firefox? These programs seem to have problems downloading some files. IF this is what you are doing, you should just download the file using plain old IE.

mykul

I just went back and read you previous post are you sure you have gotten rid of the Virus you had before. I would recommend you go to the link below and have Norbie check your computer.
