It sounds like you chose a different downld location to the previous version you had on your computer & that's why your incompletes weren't recognised. But I would have thought you'd be using the same preferences so I don't know why this should have happened. LW will refuse to load incompletes for these reasons: 1. Your system crashes whilst LW is open. 2. You jump backward to an earlier version of LW. 3. You don't close LW properly before shutting down the computer. LW can take a minute to close properly. If you have your LW options set to close only after present uplds & downlds have completed, then it won't close down fully. (LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Shutdown) 4. You accidentally erase the download.dat file which is found in the incomplete folder. 5. You have your downld folder (& thus incomplete folder) set for within the LW program folder. And you then install over the top of this folder. Perhaps you should delete your LW preferences. For LW 4.10 you'll need to do this twice since you had a previous version earlier. (a) Delete your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 in Fixes for Limewire (sample at bottom of page.) (b) Similar to above but instead, the 4.10 preferences folder is called limewire. Instructions here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...449#post182449 BTW if you want your old incompletes, then search your computer for the previous downld folder & choose that one when you set LW's options up again. |

First thanks for the help and suggestions. From: Lord of the Rings It sounds like you chose a different downld location to the previous version you had on your computer & that's why your incompletes weren't recognised. But I would have thought you'd be using the same preferences so I don't know why this should have happened. I did used the same location. 1. Your system crashes whilst LW is open. Didnt 2. You jump backward to an earlier version of LW. I tried to but the new version opened. 3. You don't close LW properly before shutting down the computer. LW can take a minute to close properly. I am sure it was closed correctly. If you have your LW options set to close only after present uplds & downlds have completed, then it won't close down fully. (LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Shutdown) That feature is not selected. 3. You accidentally erase the download.dat file which is found in the incomplete folder. That incomplete data was zapped when the Pro version was installed. 5. You have your downld folder (& thus incomplete folder) set for within the LW program folder. And you then install over the top of this folder. Hum. For some reason I didnt install Pro in my C/Program Files but rather in E/mp3/Limewire which is where the download file is. Sounds like this might be my problem. Should I remove Pro and reinstall it in the C drive? (Away from the download file) Perhaps you should delete your LW preferences. I will wait your advice re above first. Only A Hobo Old Trout. Which version exactly of pro are you using (see Limewire or Help > about) 4.10.0 Pro Java 1.50.0_04 Problems? See Limewire FAQ & User Guide, I had forgotten that this was available. Duly noted. Forum Rules & Stickies inc. Major Topics (top of forums). Try Search (above right) Still have Problems? Just ask, once, new thread in a suitable forum I thought that this was the correct forum. Please advise. Thanks again |

That is a severe error to make to have your downlds going to the program folder. Yes it will have deleted your previous incompletes. Unfortunately there's not much that could be done about it now. At best, you could try using a file recovery program, but you'd also need to recover the download.dat file & not only the incompletes. Without the downld.dat file the incompletes won't be recognised. In future, make sure you do not choose your program folder as your downld folder. Best to have them in totally different directories a reasonable distance apart or better still, a different partition/HDD. |

If you are using Windows XP you should be able to move your old incomplete files to the new folder by going to your old incomplete folder and highlighting the file then choose move this file. Browse to your new folder and put them there. If you can find them |

It sounds like you might be limited for space, the installation won't take up too much space. So the answer is yes. But if you still have your downlds going to that folder presently, then remove them before uninstalling LW. You don't want to risk making the same mistake. |

Lord I am not sure about this but if he installed it on a separate drive E/mp3/Limewire, then if he is running windows I do not think it would have removed the incomplete folder. I just moved mine from C:/ to D:/ the original incomplete folder was still in C;/Documents and settings/User Name. I do not use that folder as my incomplete folder I never have I use my F:/drive for incomplete. But it did not move it and when I moved LW form C:/ to D:/ it kept my same incomplete and saved files when I started it the incomplete resumed. Also the download.dat file are you sure about the name or is it download.bak |
