delete problem there is currently a version of limewire running on my computer and im not sure if i had deleted the uninstall program or what, but im trying to get rid of my limewire. and eventually install a new one. now i know i dont have to uninstall it cause the new one overrides and does everything for you. but the problem is that limewire is still trying to run even though i tried deleting all of its components... now it keeps trying to start up every like 30 seconds and i keep geting an error report everytime it tries. now i cant download a new version of limewire cause it says that an older version is running in the background. that older version its referring to would be the ruined version that i cant find or get rid of. any help in soving this problem would be greatly appreciated. thank you. |

Ok. First, to close the current instance of limewire, press [ctrl]+[alt]+[del] to open the windows task manager. Click on limewire to close it, then as quickly as possible, run the install program (before limewire pops open again). |

Pardon me if I state the obvious, but you tried "Add/Remove," right? If no luck there, delete the Limewire Program folder. Delete the .limewire user data folder. Download "RegSeeker" (freeware) and delete all registry entries (do a search for "Limewire"). Restart the computer. Download new version (and optionally burn to disk) - install either from the desktop downloaded version, or delete it and install from the CD copy. You should be fine. I have been a paid "Pro" member for quite some time, and recently sent in more $$ to renew my "status." 4.10 is just terrific! But I have NEVER "upgraded" to a new version - I always uninstall completely, reinstall and then re-set prefs - and have never had LW start up unintentionally. It's a bit of a hassle I know, but if you defrag after uninstall and once again after installing new version - all the files are contiguous on the hard drive and you know you've got a "clean" start with no conflicting prefs or files from previous installs. |

Is the reason you are trying to uninstall it is because you could not get it to close in the first place. If it is then you probably have a virus go to the link below Norbie will be able to help you get rid of it. You may want to check out the link below that one also. http://www.norbiesworld.co.uk/Forums...ic/t=1295.html http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=41432 |

thanks for the advice paul, but the only problem is that it wont let me delete the limewire folder because it tells me its still running... it wont let me delete any like important components cause its never really not trying to run... im not sure if grandps is right and there is some kinda virus making it do what its doing, but i can only hope not. |
