Partial Sharing, how it works?

Hi, just out of curosity I would like to know how the sharing of partially downloaded files works when several people are downloading the same file, and have partial sharing enabled. Does the download start from the same place for each one, or is the file split up amongst them, so that they can download each of the pieces from each other at the same time?
