Default Idiots naming files incorrectly

Why do there seem to be so many idiots on here who give files incorrect names.
It is frankly disturbing as on more than 1 occasion a downloaded file has turned out to be porn and i have accidently downloaded more episodes of desperate housewives than i can count on my fingers and i don't even watch it.
If i find i have downloaded an incorrectly named file then straight away i either delete it or rename it to suit-why can others not do so as on all occasions of incorrect files being downloaded these have come from multiple sources.

I, too have come across one of those stupid files and it turned out to be porn. Maybe the reason people don't rename them is because they either don't know how to rename them or they're just too stupid to rename them.

if you find a file not named correctly, then rename to what it should be

The file I mentioned above was a porn and needless to say I did not know, or care what the name of it was and I certainly wasn't going to finish the download just to rename it.

Default laziness!

i agree about "children"

unfortunately some people think "if i got stuck with this, someone else is going to get stuck with this"

rather than "i don't want anyone else to get stuck with this"

the difference being that - it takes a little effort to help someone.

Bitzi web lookup is the best way to see if the particular file has been reported on their database or not. You don't need to downld a file to check it. Right-click the file from the search results, then choose Advanced->Bitzi Web lookup.

Sample image at bottom of page here: How to use Bitzi Web Lookup ...

Of course you can also preview the file whilst it's downlding if bitzi doesn't list it. That'll let you know one way or the other.

This has been an age long problem. I like these comments by Sir Leeware: Quality of Content on the Network (click on link)

Default more specific!

sorry ..hobo, i only D L music. i forget y'all do movies.

i wouldn't want to download a whole movie just to re-name, i certainly wouldn't want it in my library even for a short time.

i also have to re-name songs (wrong title, wrong artist etc.) i've wondered: when someone searches on that file after re-naming does it show the wrong name as well, or because of re-name it's a different file.

Default id3

..hobo, i was just searching forum about id3 tags. i'm guessing - (mp3 192kbps) is part of id3? album art is somehow part also?

since i'm clueless about them, i'm also guessing some media players change? modify? the id3 tags? how could i figure out whether my player (burner) is doing that? or have i already answered my question elsewhere?

i rent too! i have T1 for music, sis-in-law has T3 for movies.
T3 with Pro, now that's something to be jealous of! lol

I'm not sure about mp3 disks but data disks burnt with mp3's will retain their id3 tags & are playable as is in different devices. Certainly burning a dvd with mp3's via iTunes allows the songs to be grouped by artist & album & a menu to show such on the dvd player. There's a lot of mp3's you can fit onto a dvd! lol

Most decent burner programs such as nero & roxio will convert mp3's to CD when you choose CD audio output as compared to mp3 disk or whatever.
