Default how do i erase my files...

hey guys,

when i download songs they go to my limewire library. i then transfer them by clicking and draging them to my windows media player (after i look them up by clicking on 'explore' in my library). now i have them on my media player library.

well my question is ... i want to delete the songs from my limewire library so when i want to transfer newly downloaded songs to my media player library i will not have to sort through all of the past downloaded songs. however, when i delete the songs from my limewire library they are erased and i cannot play them on the windows media player.

is there a way where i can delete the songs from my limewire library but still have them on my computer?

i am computer illiterate so please be specific.

thank you very much,
chad

In the options under the saved tab you will find out which folder you are saving your downloads to. Open that folder and create a new folder in Windows and open that too. Then you just move your files to the other folder. Now they won't show up in the saved files in the LimeWire library.

P.S. If you are a nice person that isn't a freeloader. You will go to the sharing tab in Limewire options and add the new folder folder

P.P.S. To prevent malware, downloaded by accident through P2P networks , from speading to others, it might be a good idea to remove your saving folder from the shared folders, and only move your new downloads after checking them first. Scan before opening, thats my rule. Better safe than sorry.

Hope this helps

Oh, another hint.
Instead of dragging musicfiles to WMP, you can ask it to keep an eye on your folder, than they will be added automaticly, saving you alot of time

Default deleting files

Hey, i notice that when a download is successful, the "quality" stars for that download, turns into a little green tick. Even when i delete all evidence from my hard drive and library etc. If i search the same programs, movies etc, the green tick still shows my previous downloads, even from the past. Is there a way to convert the green tick icon back to stars, so i have absolutely no evidence of downloading the files.
Thanx in advance

thanks guys.

but one last question. what is the benifit of scaning the shared files (or downloaded ones) before sending them to my saved file? why not just have them transported directly to the saved file and scan that one, thus eliminating an unncessary folder. (keep in mind the saved folder is shared also).

-chad

ps. what does it mean when the file type is in red vs. black?

The benefit is for others as much as it is for yourself. Malware often has to be turned on. If you scan your files without opening or moving them first, you might be able to delete the bad files without causing any harm. And if the folder isn't shared that you download to, noone else will be uploading it from you, thus saving them from the grief of having to deal with the same malware.

Red files aren't being shared and black ones are. If you have done what I said they are not mixed in the library. shared folders will have black files and the files you have just downloaded will be red. If you want to be organized U can have videos and music by genre in different folders just sharing all of them.

It also isn't really nessesary to share all your files, because sharing too many files might get you in trouble. I try to stay under 1000 shared files normally. Much less chance of getting caught, than people who share several thousand files. I also try to share files that not everyone has allready, instead of things people can get from other easyly.

Hope this helped
