Stunted Playback...?? I'm a newbie, please help. Hi everyone, I have been these message boards trying to find out how to convert my avi files into dvd files. I found a fantastic post that told me how to do everything step by step now my only problem is that when i play it on the dvd player it is unwatchable as playback is reeeeealllllly stunted and of course voices dont match up. And to top it all off, i have a big WinAvi Video converter written continuously across the screen???? Have i downloaded a dud version of winavi??? This is all a bit hard really isnt it, And i thought i was doing so well when i got it to burn!!!! Does anyone know how i can fix these problems.... Thanks in advance Lisa |

You might actually have a dud. That happens alot on P2P because these files are being downloaded by the millions every day & they tend to wareout. Ive never had any problems with playing avi files. Every now and then, you do get duds though, not sure whatelse you can do to get them to play outside of compressing & converting it into another format. Did you install the right codecs before you burned? How did you burn them? With what software? Last edited by Sphinx; January 12th, 2006 at 06:08 AM. |

im using Nero to burn. I think i have the right codecs, the file plays fine on computer using wmp. What is the best converting software to use and is there any good ones for free that dont say demo verrsion on the final product? Thanks Lisa |

What you dont want to use is demo software. Heres a trusted freeware site that may have what you need. http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/freeware.html when you use Nero are you data burning the files? Because thats what you should do when you burn. |

I think im going to give up, i dont know what is happening here. Now Nero wont even attempt to burn, when i get to the burn screen the burn button is greyed out/inactive. i think when i burned the first copy it may have been in the wrong format. now that i have figured that out i just need a program to convert... DVD Santa looks good but since i dont have a credit card i cant order a copy and demo version has demo written all over the screen. I looked in the site you gave me but im not really even sure what program i should be looking for. This is much more difficult than i thought it would be. I have burnt hundreds of cds and dvds using nero so i thought i would be able to find my way around burning a file i downloaded but its all a bit difficult. Thanks for your help Sphinx Lisa |

Ive been using Nero 6 as it has the Express burns which allows you to choose data burns or music burns. I always burn as data even with music. I'd try to get another file if I were you, it could very well be corrupt & thats why its not burning. No sense in banging your head against the wall because its not as easy as it sounds to convert a corrupted file. Good luck. |
