Limewire Has Infected My Computer!!!!

Hello
Limewire has infected my computer with an adware virus, my computer was fine until I downloaded Lime Wire so I reckon its definitely the culprit.

I am not a computer expert so can someone please explain to me in simple terms how to fix it please?

Or else I will have to delete Limewire and thats a shame cos I paid for it!

I think its an evil plan to make me upgrade to Pro version grrrr!!!

HELP!

Ok calm down. Did you get your LW from the official site:
www.limewire.com

If you did, it has no adware, spyware or malware at all. Some adware & spyware programs will find LW but it's called a false positive...a false finding. What programs do you use?

If you got a copy of LW from a scam site, it might have nasties in it & you should get it off your computer. Always download ONLY from the official site.

See WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! (click on link)

birdy is on the mark: 1. make sure you only get LW from the official site. 2. make sure the anti-spyware/adware programs you use are appropriate & not poorly designed programs as tested & reported on the spyware forum. 3. be careful of what you downld (stay away from files less than 1,000 KB)

I'm guessing that as you said you paid for it & it's not pro, you were scammed. Basic is free. Pro costs $US18.88 for 6 months of updates & email support. See the link below & do cancel your CC transaction & try to get your money back.

Thanks for the info guys

Yep I've been scammed, how embarrassing!!

I searched for file sharing on google and thats how I found it, but cant remember which site, and it was a few months ago so no chance of refund, oh well live and learn eh!?

Now I must go and wipe that horrible scam file from my computer and hope it will be okay!!!

Thanks for your help :)

There still might be a chance you can get your money back thru your bank or credit card company. Most will have a special department that deals with fraud & scams, etc. You need to contact that department directly. Just because it happened a while ago is not the issue, the fact is you only just became aware of the issue. You didn't get what you paid for!!! They cheated & lied to you! It was a deception. ;)
