![]() Stupid question that no one can probably answer, but I'll give it a shot. Ok...first off, every file extension has an icon associated with it. MPG extensions will have the little WMP icon if that's your default player. And so on and so forth with every extension. If you don't have a program set for that extension then windows uses the default plain icon. Anyway, when you do a search with limewire these icons are shown next to the results. Example...I search for a movie...so it will have the WMP icon next to it. This all works fine EXCEPT for mp3 audio files! It basically shows the plain blank icon like I don't have a program installed that handles this extension. I already have the latest Winamp, and latest PRO version of Limewire. I also already know how to go to folder options and change properties for certain extensions. I have already done so for the mp3's. The icon works fine in Windows, and in other P2P programs such as emule. This really isn't a HUGE deal, and is not affecting much other than it irritates me!!! Anyone have any ideas?? If not...no worries. Just curious. Tiny little stupid things bug ya sometimes and you just want to fix them! |

![]() Some weeks back I recall hearing something similar. I think I just suggested to reset the defaults. See Setting default audio program I can't remember whether it's wmp or winamp, but one of them has a variable setting for icon showing. I'd recommend checking the winamp options carefully. I think there's an option that may relate to icon settings. |

![]() Well thanks for the reply, so far I still haven't got it to change. I've already set winamp to always be the default program for opening mp3s. Which it did fine anyway. In winamp's properties you have to slider bars to change icons for songs and playlists and such. Tried changing these, same problem. I also tried the microsoft help file about adding the value 2000 for the icon cache. Same thing. I'm including a picture in this post...assuming I do it right, so everyone can see. If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know!! See image below Last edited by Lord of the Rings; January 27th, 2006 at 08:19 AM. |

![]() Oh well I just loaded it up and typed anything in, I wasn't really searching for anything. I just needed some sort of results to show what I meant. So...sorry I guess. But I don't see why it'd be anything wrong system wise... the icons are fine everywhere! In Windows, and even in numerous other programs such as eMule... |

![]() After changing/adjusting the default for the mp3's, did your quit & then re-open LW? Did you see this thread http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=34465 After that I think I'll leave it up to anyone else, I'm outta ideas. lol ![]() |

![]() Yep, did all that. Even cleared and rebuilt the icon cache...which typically only needs to be done when explorer isn't displaying proper icons. But I gave it a try anyway. I have the very latest winamp, and the very latest LimeWire Pro. So I'm just not sure. Limewire is the only one having problems with the icon, and it's only with the extension mp3. This happend quite a while ago, but I just ignored it. But now it's kind of annoying, and I just want to fix it. But I'm out of ideas, so I searched the forums not really finding anything pertaining to my exact situation. So, just trying to see if anyone else has had this problem, or can tell me where to look. May be just a simple registry setting, but I haven't a clue. Thanks for the replies. Hope someone can help me out though. |

![]() Here is another screen shot. While in LimeWire, you can browse to your library. Here is the prefrences on an mp3 in the library. As you can see, it just shows the default icon as if nothing handles that extension. Even though you can double-click it and it'll load winamp. ![]() |

![]() Same problem here, but the default windows icon appears for mp3 files not only in LW, but in explorer too. I changed the association to musicmatch, the icon was good ! So i decided, winamp causes the trouble. I used then the description in the previously proposed http://www.easydesksoftware.com/news/news12.htm page. In regedit i looked after .mp3 key, found winamp.file in the first entry (default ?). Then I looked after winamp.file, found ....winamp.exe,1; changed 1 to -1 , as the description suggests - not good; then changed -1 to 2 : it's good ! (It's good for m4a files too.) After every change I've rebuilt the icon cache by changing the display color depth in display properties. I know, this is not exact, but works. |
