Default Any alternatives???

Hi, I might well be the black sheep with my first post but it's been 3 months since I've have downloaded Limewire...AND HELL THAT THING SUCKS!!!!

For 3 months my pc has only been shut down for 4 times, on automatic restarts after windows upgrades, which means that Limewire was ALWAYS opened. I have a broadband connection of 20mb/s and for 3 months, the only 2 things I've been able to download are an episode of S*th P**k and only 11% of the movie S***y!!

Please, don't anybody direct me to the sticky having all the threads allowing a beter download, I've done them ALL and I have to say those advices just plain don't work!! I've configured everything, from teh firewalls to the number of search results and all I'ev got are only 2 downloads!! All the others are out, never even started a bit! NEVER!!

I'm using Shareaza and dude it works much much better, but still quite slow on connection, with only like 85kb. Limewire boasts about fast connections, but dude, show me where this has gone!! It's all false!

So, are there any other p2p download progs which actually grants you a fast itnernet downlaods?

thanks

an angry and very frustrated and soon to be ex-limewire user

LimeWire doesn't "suck". Certain versions of it does but the entire program itself doesn't suck. I have 4.9.28(basic) and it's great. I have no problems with it. You could try Phex. I don't know the website for it but you could just check the forum for the Phex board.

trust me, if you had broadband and only had to download round 200 MB for 3 months you'd say the same thing as I did

For your information, we have high speed DSL. We rarely download large files like movies and such but when we do it might take maybe 2 hours give or take. As for everything else it's very quick.

Hi there

I just have a little 1 meg ASDL connection and I set a movie to download and go to bed. It has never not completed when I get up. A TV show takes a couple of hours.

I always check the file with Bitzi and pick one with more than 5 or 6 hosts on line and no less than 4 stars.

I did all the settings stuff on the stickies and I now get about 70-100kbs speed

I have pro 4.10.0

So Limewire doesn't suck but your configaration seems to.

I am sure the guys on here will try and help you, if you ask and let them know your details.

If you read my first post you would see that I suggested Phex. With any p2p program there is no guarantee that you will get faster downloads. Your download speed could be the way you configured your LimeWire or something else. And if you ever want help in this forum I suggest you drop that attitude. We don't mind helping others but many of us have a low tolerance for people like you.

Have you considered the problem might be a combination of things. Your ISP shaping your bandwidth whilst you're using p2p (they use special programs that detect p2p programs & often target one program in particular for shaping or stopping from connecting.)

Some programs run better on some systems than others. Perhaps that's true for your system. So if you'd like a gnutella alternative (not miserly or leeching programs like Raza when it runs in multiple network mode), the how about these 2: 1. Phex, or maybe 2. BearShare Lite, there's also FrostWire

But if you don't like LW that's fine, just don't insult those that inquire as to why you have a problem with it when it works very well for many, many others (multiple millions.)

the Dude ... or whatever a female dude is called , did actually suggest Phex... in answer to your question,

but since you seem to have a good relationship with Shareaza .. I would think you should maybe stay with that. It would appear that you have some kind of problem(s) with your set up and on this forum there are many who will try to resolve your problems.

I really don't understand the reason for you posting , I use Limewire ... I had one or two problems, which have been quickly resolved by others on the forum. If I had not asked others on the forum for help, I would hardly consider it appropriate to come on the forum, and insult a long standing member who was trying to be civil and helpful with my third post.

I shan't contribute further to this thread ... so don't tyy and make me
