Bitziweb is not only for limewire, but when you search a file on limewire, right-click on the file and choose bitziweb-lookup. If someone has rated the file you will know

If you are new to downloading then be very careful, there are a lot of bad files. Never ever download any .exe files if you are new to this. also stay away from .wma .asf .asx and a few more

bitzi is the best way to go that I know of..I do know of a certain 'verified downloads site', but I have no trust whatsoever in regards to said site...I, among others, have verified that some of their 'verified files' are virii infested pieces of crap...and when notified, the host actually tries to defend them...so trust bitzi
