Unhappy Trouble with Limewire 4.10.9

I'm running Win XP Home. I USED TO be able to use Limewire until yesterday. I'm not a heavy user of LW, so I'm not sure if I installed something or why it happened. Anyway, when I attempt to run LW, NOTHING happens. The disk light comes on likes it's loading, hen NOTHING. No error message, no sign of LW....NOTHING. Can someone help me get this worked out? I'm sorry that I can't give much info, but I honestly don't know where to begin. Any help will be appreciated

Open windows explorer, go to C:\Program Files\Limewire in there look for a file called Limewire.exe double click it, if this works then your shortcut is broken, if it does not work, reinstall Limewire.

OK. Tried running the EXE file....still nothing. WIll try to re-download it. Should I uninstall what I have before re-installing?

I personally would uninstall before a clean install, but thats just me.

did you check the tray where the clock is, perhaps LW is opening minimized?

rricci It is fairly probable that your preferences or your Java have become damaged in some way. I would suggest you do the following. Totally uninstall Limewire, including the preference folder. Then Reinstall Java , and then re install Limewire. Both installs should be made offline using the downloaded installers.

Please let us know how you get on

I'd be willing tio bet that too. When I go into a Java-enabled page, my browser shuts down. I'll give that a shot and post he results here. Thanks for the tip, Hiobo

That did it! I owe you, my friend. Without you, I would have NEVER thought of Java.
