Limewire Legal?

I was just wondering if limewire is Legal to use... I have downloaded a lot and it just came across me now that it may not be legal to do this... someone please reply

This has been answered so many times!! LW the program is perfectly legal. Downloading copyrighted material is not legal.

Use the search (top right, between faq & home) & look for "legality" or "is limewire legal?" or similar. You'll find hundreds of threads & hundreds of slightly different takes on this

It is legal as long as you dont download child porn and copyrighted music. which basically means almost all mp3's unless you live in country with 'weak' copyright laws such as canada.
i heard if you just download and dont share with others you cant get caught. im not sure its this is true, if anyone can elaberate on that id be gratefull.

Don't fall for the propaganda. Canada's laws are strong
enough to stand up to the corrupt music industry and send it
packing, and that ****** them off greatly. We enjoy the
privilege of access because we have laws which levy
recording media and pass the millions collected on to
copyright holders. We have been collecting this money
quietly and successfully since the days when the music
"industry" was whining it's doom and gloom stories over the
"vast evils" of blank cassette tape.


Those bozos are proven control freaks who cannot stand a
government and court system which asserts authority over
them instead of bending over for the money.
