They said the suit would be filled in your local Federal Court. MPAA vs. Me The Court is allowed under the law to award the Plantiff $750 - $150,000 per offense. Too risky and not a chance in hell. Last edited by apostibo; March 4th, 2006 at 01:40 AM. |

I would have sent a letter back asking them to prove the file listed was actually their movie, not a video of you expressing your review of the said movie, that you had tittled with the same name, and to prove that they had downloaded it only from you, and was not mostly downloaded from somewhere else. Once they had done that I would have then told em "dont lknow what your talking about", the IP address they quoted is actually a 24 port router, that you onsell your internet bandwidth from. Then again it is easy to spout when it is not you facing the bums eh? |

There have been a couple of interesting threads on the subject recently http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ighlight=court http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ght=bittorrent I understand that the MPAA and the RIAA in the USA have some very intimidating means of scaring the hell out of people so that they bend over and pay up. I have no idea as to the legality of sending this sort of letter, but I'm sure a good lawer could rip the thing apart .. the trouble is that that would cost a lot of money. Torrent afaics is no more safe than Limewire.. As you can see, no one has all the definitive facts, and I would ask you to do one thing before you do anything rash, which is to check that this correspondence is genuine. One poor person was scared to death by threatening letters ..removed all incriminating files from his computer and found that, in fact, a "friend" had sent the letter through a website that specializes in sending spoof e-mails. To anyone who says "what a waste of space this topic is" ... I would say they are wrong .. If any thread answers all the questions, it can then be stickied and the subject closed ... not yet I think |

Thank's for your support guy's. I would also agree for other's to beware of scam's and to retain a lawyer before sending any money. I had a lawyer check into this for me.He agreed i should settle.Unfortunately my case is very real. Being a user of P2P for many years i know their case has major holes in it.I'm sure i could win if i had the unlimited fund's they have. But i don't, so i can't. I have never liked forum's precisely because of the first response to my post. The urge to belittle other's is too much for some people. If just one person does not get caught up in the MPAA's sting because they read my post and decided not to participate that day, then the purpose of my post has been served. Long live Limewire and p2p and good luck to all. |

I have read in previous threads of software that can keep you safe and hide your IP address... Maybe someone could post the links here (as I cant recall them all)....And Id like to install them myself lol.... |
