stuck on Limewire

When I started my computer, Limewire sits on the top bar next to the Apple icon, but I can't access it or anything on my desktop. What do I do??? Help! Is this a virus? I downloaded the 'Basic' but haven't even used LW.

You should have downloaded a dmg file. which should be on your desktop. opening this will give you the Limewire programme etc in a new folder, If you download with a different browser than Safari you may well have problems.

This is a wild guess since apart from the fact that I guess you are a Mac user , I have no idea about anything else ... so some details of your system OS etc would be more than helpful:)

-Sorry Hobo...didn't get response right away, didn't know i was getting an email instead of a direct response. Thanks for your response. I hope you can still help.
I downloaded limewire weeks ago...and have been able to use my computer since.
Usually its just on sleep mode, only this time I shut it off to save my battery (cord not working) I used Safari and installed LW where I had been able to open LW, just never added songs... can't tell you much about MY Mac since I can't get into it.(using a friend's computer) Except its OSX G4.
I'm stuck. Is this really an install problem? If so...how can I uninstall it if I can't go anywhere on my desktop?

The default setting for the forums is that you recieve an e-mail to say there has been a reply to a post of yours with a link to the post. This way anyone can see the thread and it may well help others. You can change your settings in user CP ..but it's not a good idea imo

I'm a bit puzzled about your problem .. so Lets try and find out what you have there:)

If you click on the Apple ..> about this mac you will see a panel with version, processor, and memory. Please tell us what these say.

Also click on finder in the dock and tell us what drive space you have left spare this will be at the bottom of the window in the middle ... If you have other drives listed at the top left under network in the finder window.. click on those and tell us what space is on those.

This might not help .. but it'll give us an idea what you have

no longer stuck on limewire

After turning my computer on and off, taking the BATTERY OUT, I was able to clear LW. Thank GOD!
Patience is a necessity!!! Not a virtue.

For further understanding this and to assist others, I have
version 10.4
processor 1 GHz PowerPC G4
1 MB L3 cache
Memory 512 MB SDRAM

in Finder..2.78 GB available

But I couldn't even access anything before. I couldn't click on apple icon, or Limewire drop down menu and no desktop Folders/icons were visible.

Am I just running out of space? Or is this another freak thing with LW?

I'm glad you have at least got the computer back to working correctly:)

If you wish to install Limewire again, I cannot see why there should be a problem, except for two things. One is we'd need to know which version of Java is installed, and which version of Quick time. Also after the OSX 10.4 there is usually .(and another number).

I haven't gone into great detail, as I'm not quite sure if you just wanted to return the computer to your friend in working order, or you do want to install Limewire.

Also a power adapter is vital... I'm a bit mistified how you have managed without it:)
