file sharing

Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to disable my file sharing on limewire?

I am only on lite speed and it is making it very difficult to get to any webpage in less then 5 min.

I'd like to disable it so I will have faster acces to the internet.
Thankyou so very much.

Unless you are on really lite speed, it isn't very nice using Limewire and not sharing anything.

If your speed is 512/128 or above and you are using windows, this patch should help you get better access to the internet while using Limewire

Evid patch

I haven't tried it at lower speeds, but it probably works also at lower speeds

If you are really set on not sharing, because your speed is lower than that, you can set upload slots to zero, but I really wish that you would try this first, and then play around a little with the upload/download sliders.

Also pages loading slowly often is caused by slow downloading not uploading, so I'm not sure that not sharing will help at all

It is much more likely that the patch will help ;)

it's not that I am a freeloader or trying to downlaod free and not share its the fact that it takes forever for anything internet related.
And my internet provider says that it is limewire slowing down my connection and to YES try lowering my upload speed. My speed for lite speed is ONLY 10 mbps so yes I am on very lite speed, and if it didn't interfer with my internet connections then I would be happy to share my files.
But please don' t insult me by saying that I am a freeloader and a person who is unwilling to share, I am just sick and tired of having to use my friends and other's computers to check my e-mail for mine takes way way too long otherwise. and until I fix my uploading from limewire i will be stuck using others computers rather then my own.

Is there a way to set my uploads to 1 or 2 this way I can still share a few, and how would I go about it.
Thankyou.

I'm sorry if you took my reply as an insult, that was in no way intended

The Definition of a Freeloader thingy is on every single one of my posts, and in no way pointed at you and should not be associated with my reply. That is for everyone

It is possible to set your upload slots to 1

go to tools<options<uploads<slots and set both to one, in uploads you can choose basic and move the slider to the desired position

the sliders range will be affected by your setting in tools<options<speed
Choose whatever setting fits you best

Also you should adjust the download slider accordingly as I am sure thats part of your problem as well. You upload a request and download pages, off course sending e-mails you upload

Also dont have many downloads at a time if at low speed, because every single downloadrequest used up bandwidth as well

As an example I have 119 KB down and 28,5 to 31 KB up depending on time of day and I never have uploads set over 24 KB and never over 3 slots for it to not effect other activities

I also do not understand your 10 Mbps as they would be more than 9 times faster than mine. mine is called 1024/256 Kbps

If it's some kind of dsl you can google for a speedtest and get your speed in KB per second, which is how bandwidth is measured in Limewire, making it a lot easier to set

Hope this helps :)

For what it's worth,I am on a 4 Meg cable connection with a P-4,1.8,XP Home Dell and I have to shut down LW (Pro) to be able to play on-line poker. If I leave it on I am about 20 seconds behind everybody else in the poker game (Party Poker) and have no time to bet. I have 388 RAM.So I'd say there are times when you have to shut it off.

I play there too, and it does delay the connection. I still run Limewire when playing at night. I just set the speed Limewire runs at lower than usual. I find it better to restart limewire after changing speedsettings. Don't think they really take effect unless you restart it. See ya at the tables ;)
