Both you & the other person need to be properly configured in regards to firewalls or else direct connect won't work. Also, you both need to have available both upload & downld slots & bandwidth at that time. Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If false, then it shows you're firewalled. This is usually also reflected by a brick wall in front of a globe icon at the bottom of LW. Make sure your software firewall is configured to allow LW full access. Also make sure UPnP (universal plug & play) is enabled on your modem/router. If your device does not have this ability then most likely manual port forwarding is required (this does not apply to dial up users.) Instructions for all of these are here: Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) More on direct connecting here How to use Magnet Links & Direct Connect. BTW magnet links is a good way to send files to a friend. Once they start downlding such a file, you can both browse each other. Browse works best if Chat is enabled (Tools>Options>Chat) |

No, that message is saying you "are" behind a firewall & thus, you won't be able to direct connect. Here's what it should look like: Direct Connect search selection with ip showing (click on link). The only way around this is to follow the firewall configuration instructions I gave earlier. Unfortunately, due to the upgrading of the forum software the person's example image below mine in the link where their ip also wasn't showing is corrupted so you can't see what their problem was. But it's the same as you. BTW I use Photoshop & ImageReady & generally reduce the size of the image before posting (keeping width below 630 pixels.) I post gifs since reducing colours also helps reduce file size. |

1. Does LW show the brick wall in front of the globe? 2. Do the bug report test I gave earlier. Is yours true or false? If false, then you have a firewall issue. If the problem is not your computer software firewall, then it will probably be your modem or router. Most high speed modems have NAT firewalls. UPnP can open incoming ports for LW. However if your device does not have UPnP ability, then you'd need to manually open the port using port forwarding. Port forwarding requires a static ip (without a static ip, manual port forwarding won't work!) BTW what firewall do you have on your computer & which operating system are you using? What modem & or router are you using (what's its brand name & model version)? |

LW do show the brick wall in front of the globe. and the test gave a false result. and i do not know what firewall is used since i have a wireless connection from some company that uses firewall and i have a connection of 56kb/s and this company opened for me this port: 6346. |
