*NEW* Official LimeWire Forum for LW community devs ONLY!!! LimeWire have just launched the official forum: limewire.com/forum (this is not a forum for LimeWire users!) |
Sweet, I was waiting for them to come up with an official forum. |
So ...... is this to be the new home of the Limewire division of the Gnutella forums, or are the Gnutella forums going to get a new server and continue WITH their enormous and useful database? Will Limewire staff be answering the questions? .. The official Gnutella forums view on this forum would be welcomed.. Personally, I'm not thrilled to bits and it comes exactly at the time when the latest Beta releases are being viewed with some suspiscion, although I have to say, I have not tried the latest version myself. I don't know exactly what to make of this sudden change, and hope we will be filled in on the reasoning and thinking on this from both the Moderators of the Gnutella Forums and from Limewire. |

Folks, We are not switching away from these forums. Thanks -greg |
Hi, I'm Kevin (Zootella), an employee of Lime Wire LLC in New York. I see you've found our forums. I'll answer the questions people have brought up. But first, please realize 2 things: (1) The forums aren't officially up yet. That's why there's like 2 postings in them. (2) The forums aren't for LimeWire users. The top section, for Users, links back here to the Gnutella forums. We're starting small, and don't want to duplicate effort. Quote:

On the other hand, some narrower communities that have sprung up around LimeWire don't yet have a place online to meet. For instance: LimeWire developers don't have a forum of their own. There's Gnutella development here, and the GDF, but they're not specific to LimeWire. Try to post a LimeWire-specific development question there, and you'll be reminded what's on topic. So, with the LimeWire Forums, we're starting to engage our community and fill in the missing pieces. I'm signed up for a lot of forums online, and have never felt loyalty to one over another - that's not what any of this is about. I hope the people who made the Gnutella Forums great will sign up for the LimeWire forum and help LimeWire get started. |
Kevin, I signed up, but think it rather a waste. IRC #limewire has been good or fast quick exchanges. The beta forum really worked well for feedback and troubleshooting/testing new releases, as long as the devs could stand dealing with the terminally illiterate (those of us who really don't know how to use the command line Terminal). I'd much prefer if you guys would link your development community with us here, with your participation in the beta forum especially. If it is a matter of control--well, most of the LW team have full rights in any of the LW forums. I really don't see how the new forum serves a need for community involvement, other than forking the community. And GregB: Does your post mark an hiatus from ******? If so, good to see you are still allowed a voice. Cheers all |
