Unhappy Playlist problem

Whenever I open up a saved playlist and try to add new songs to it, the contents of my saved playlist get deleted completely. What am I doing wrong?
1. I open a playlist, let's call it "Songs"
2. I add new songs using the enqueue button
3. I save the playlist again using the same name "Songs"
4. When I go back to open up that "Songs" playlist, it is completely empty!

I have experiemented and discovered that if I save the new playlist under a different name, it is okay. But does that mean I have to give my playlist a different name every time I add new songs? That seems silly.

Also, is there any way to delete unwanted playlists?

I do know if you open a saved playlist, it clears the playlist that's already loaded, whether that be a saved one or not.

I'm not sure, I'll need to investigate this. But a little later.

To delete playlists, you'll need to go to that folder where you saved the playlists to & send the unwanted ones to the recycle bin.

Question "Clears" playlist?

I'm not sure what you mean, that when you open a new playlist, the playlist that is already open is "cleared." Do you mean if I have playlist A (a saved playlist) open, then I open playlist B, all the songs on Playlist A will be cleared and when I go back to playlist A it will be empty? If that is what you mean, how are you supposed to go from one playlist to another without wiping (clearing) the songs from all the playlists?

Because there's only one playlist window, that's what happens. That's a shortfall of the LW playlist function.

As far as opening an older saved playlist & "then" adding new songs to that, I'm not sure, it should work ok but I can't remember trying it. So I guess that's what you should try. Opening the older playlist & then adding songs to it. Otherwise if you create a new playlist, but then open an older one without saving the new one, then the new one will be lost.

As I said earlier, I'll check it out but not right now. Tomorrow.

Unhappy playlists

Yes, thanks, if you could investigate the playlist functions and let me know that would be great. There isn't much info on the help file. As I said, I have already tried opening a saved playlist, adding new songs, then saving the playlist under the same name. It wipes out everything. The only way I could add songs to an existing playlist was to save the playlist (with the added songs) under a new name. And the original playlist is then empty! Please let me know what you discover. I'm trying to decide whether I want to stay, and pay for, LimeWire. This info will help me decide.

It seems you are right. Saving as the original playlist name seems to delete the contents. However if you save as another name it doesn't. I opened some old playlists & added files to them & saved as another name. When I re-opened them (after opening others), the playlists were fine & had the additions. So I guess the motto is that you "must" save using a new playlist filename each occasion. That means you'll need to delete the older ones if you deem them to be no longer useful. At least that aspect works.

Perhaps you can make a New Feature Request (in that section of the forum) to make improvements for the playlist such as being able to append an old playlist without having to re-save it under a different name.

BTW I saved my m3u playlists to root level of another drive so it was easy to find & access them (drive F.) In the tests I did above, I added/enqueued files to the playlist from all parts of the computer, drive C & G, & several locations on each just to be sure.

Unhappy thanks

Thanks for checking this out for me. This is a major flaw, but one that should be easy for TPTB to fix. I will do as you suggest as post something on the New Features thread.
