Which version of Nero are you using?

Are you burning them at minimum, medium or maximum speed? Did you try burning to DVD RW 1at?

Hi Womble
I've never used Nero but the same kind of thing happens when converting videos to play on an iPod. Maybe the 2 movies you downloaded last night are in a different format to those you've burnt to DVD before? Might have to look at how you're converting them. For burning DVDs I use DVD Santa - it's really easy to use. Comes in a trial version (free) if you feel like checking it out (the trial version will add some crap to the top of the screen)

As for your Nero problem, check out the support site.

There's an FAQ section & further support if you need it

You can change your audio options from the first page that pops up when you open a Nero project. At the bottom left you will see where it says more click on it. It will expand the screen you will then see configure then video options. Click on video options. The Video Options screen will pop up select DVD-Video if you look at the bottom it says audio. Click on the button and choose your audio setting.
